Sending Butterfly Wishes

Good Friday morning to all!  I am bringing you today a special creation that I am submitting for the SplitCoastStamper LOVEFEST2014B challenge, and was inspired by a very special e-Card I received from a dear friend on Valentine's Day.  The e-Card was so beautiful, and I just felt that somehow I could create my own "real" card from the inspiration.  Here is the e-Card I received; you can tell me if I captured the essence of this beautiful inspiration.

This "card" (since it's only one layer) was cut with the largest framelit from the Hearts Framelits set from Stampin' Up!  The largest heart in that set is a scalloped heart, which is just so dainty and sweet.  I have outlined the heart with a double layer of linen thread.  I then stamped and "fussy cut" the orchid spray of flowers from the new Happy Watercolor set.  I carefully watercolored these flowers with Wisteria Wonder, and a mix of Kraft White ink.  The leaves were stamped with the French Foliage set (retired) which has always been one of my most favorite sets.  I chose my colors carefully as I wanted to give the feel of Spring.  The flowers are created with our new Petite Petals set and punched out with the matching punch.  I placed an irridescent sequin in the center of the Blushing Bride flowers.  The butterfly is created using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die out of a piece of retired Blushing Bride DSP.  I carefully placed tiny pearls and stamped the "Wish" image in Wisteria Wonder.  I drew in faint lines for the butterfly wings with a Wisteria Wonder stampin' write marker.

Everything has been secured with either Tombow glue or glue dots.  Only the butterfly was popped up with dimensionals.  I wanted things to be secure and stay on.

You'll forgive me, if after spending some looking at this image, I have decided to go back in and add little pearls to the centers of the orchid flower spray.  I don't have a picture of it here (maybe I'll post an update later ;-) )  but I think the little detail addition will be a nice "upgrade."

Party YOUR Way!

Good Morning -- just about the end of the week :-)  Thankfully today is my "Friday" as this is my off-Friday week from work.  My favorite weeks - the ones with 3-day weekends :-)

Today's submission for your perusal is a card created for my Brother's birthday tomorrow, and inspired by and submitted to the  SplitCoastStampers LOVEFEST2014C challenge, the Mojo Monday #334 challenge, and the Dynamic Duos #91 (Triple Threat Week), challenge.

The LOVEFEST challenge was a "doodling" challenge, something I hadn't done much of before.  I didn't do a lot of it here, but I think the hash (/) dash (-) marks in varied colors around the outside edge of the white inset cardstock piece is a perfect and simple detail addition for this card.

The Dynamic Duos challenge this week was a "triple threat" challenge, meaning that rather than limiting the challenge to two colors, we were afforded three colors to include in our card designs.  I absolutely love the combination picked for this week in the Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo, and Tangerine Tango.  This is a color combination I've played with before.  It feels fun, fresh, tropical and Summery to me (perhaps wishful thinking in the middle of Winter in February).  Certainly it is a good combination for a birthday card.

The Mojo Monday challenge this week is a "Tall and Skinny" challenge.  I chose to follow Mary Fish's lead, and go "thin and wide" -- LOL.  I wondered to myself what that sounds like when you're trying to go on a diet.  I liked the card sideways better in this particular case.  The dimensions on this card this week are 7" x 4".  You can easily create an envelope to match this card using our new Envelope Punch Board.

I tried to design this card with a less feminine feel, and a little more appropriate feel to give to a guy -- especially a guy like my brother who is a trucker, motorcyclist, "big bad dude" through and through :-) 

The designer paper is from our Summer Smooches pack from last year, and coordinates nicely both with the Chevron embossing folder and the stamp from the Oh, Hello stamp set.  The center stack is cut out with the Oval framelits set and popped up with dimensionals.  I used a retired set called "Party This Way" for the candles and the "fussy cut" (a quilting term), sentiment which is also popped up with dimensionals.

This is a relatively simple card, but I do like the final result.  I hope you enjoy it as well.  Would love to hear your comments.

In the Garden

Good Morning!  Today the Doggone Delightful Stampin' team brings you an entry for the SplitCoastStampers LOVEFEST2014E challenge and the Deconstructed Sketch #139 (DS139) challenge.  The Cat's Pajamas is sponsoring the LOVEFEST2014E entry challenge is an inspiration challenge, with some lovely pictures of birdhouses, and an iron garden gate.  I was drawn to the birdhouses and when looking through my stamp sets, I came across this lovely retired set that I've hung onto for many years as I've always just loved it, but have never found an opportunity to use it.  What better time than now.  I had a lot of fun coloring this picture.

I colored the smaller pieces of the images with Stampin' Write Markers, in some cases using the finer tip for the delicate details.  You might notice the little ladybug hanging on one grass stem, or the delicate details of the butterfly.  I used my aquapainter and various Stampin' Ink pads to work the clay pot, and the background, which I wanted to have a "marbled" effect.  The little bird is a lovely songbird, can't you tell ??  :-)

The image is cut out with our Circles framelits set, and bordered in Soft Sky.  I love our new Watercolor DSP in the 2014 Occasions catalog, and feel it works perfectly.  I used the Decontructed Sketch 139, but used it in an unorthodox manner, which I really like.  Sometimes you can't take a sketch too literally.  Did  you notice our new Scallops textured impressions embossing folder?  Don't forget a little pearl embellishment.

Vine Street Stroll

 

Good Monday morning!  Hoping for a good one -- but I'm afraid there's a lot going on at work, so we shall see!

Bringing a lovely card to you today created and submitted for the LOVEFEST2014F challenge over on SplitCoastStampers, and for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge (FMS124). 

The color challenge for LOVEFEST2014F by Sweet-n-Sassy stamps was not my favorite at first.  I'm kind of worn out on the "Valentine" thing, so I was a little bit like, uggghhhh -- yuck!.  But then I got to thinking about our new Fresh Prints DSP from the 2014 Occasions catalog, and sure enough, I realized the paper in this lovely DSP stack was perfect for this challenge.  Even better, it allowed me to pull out the lovely Vine Street embossing folder from last year's Sale-A-Bration.  I've always liked this embossing folder.  I think the paper from the Fresh Prints is a perfect coordinated match.

 

The center panel was embossed, and then lightly sponged with a mixture of Blushing Bride and White Kraft ink.  I was trying for a coordinated effect with the lighter petals in the paper.  The flower was punched out with the Pansy Punch, and then sponged with Illuminate ink and Blushing Bride ink.  The Petite Petals stamp and punch (brand new in our current Occasions Catalog) is the perfect coordiate to our Pansy/Flower Shop set and makes a lovely center.  I "pinned" the 3 flowers together with a Subtles brad, and added a few pearls for a dainty finish.  The flower petals were gently curled with a bone folder, and the entire bundle is "popped up" using several dimensionals to give enough space for the curled effect.

The sentiment is from our brand new Penant Parade set, and is the perfect sentiment for this card, as it's not too overwhelming and just fits in nicely at the top of the card (also embellished with a few pearls and popped up with dimensionals).  I think the card befits a lovely stroll down Vine Street memory lane.
