Hello everyone! This week is my very best friend's birthday. I decided that my entry for the Mojo Monday #333 challenge, and the Dynamic Duos #90 challenge, would be her birthday card. I love the drama and elegance black can bring to a color combination, and I think the Dynamic Duo color challenge this week is especially nice. Combined with the Mojo Monday challenge, they made for a very special card that I hope my friend will like. I would note that one element of the Mojo Monday sketch was left off this card (the small horizontal strip across the lower half of the card). I studied it for a while after I realized I had left it off -- but decided it simply would not work on this card; rather felt it would detract. Hopefully Mojo can forgive me! ;-)
The bloom is from the new Happy Watercolor set, stamped in black staz-on ink on Whisper White cardstock, and watercolored with aqua painters and a mixture of Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry. A few pearls give a lovely accent. The background piece was carefully lined up with the stamp-a-ma-jig and stamped with the Flores Suaves stamp (retired).
The Delicate Doilies sizzlets is the perfect frame for my little message letting my friend know she had a little gift awaiting her inside this card that she didn't have to share with anyone else, and is popped up with dimensionals to give impact on the face of the care. I found the button from my stampin' up button stash and is a retired item. I tied black taffeta ribbon through the button and attached it with glue dots. Don't forget the pearl accents. I seriously considered trimming the doily in pearls as well, but decided it might be too much. Sometimes less is more!
