I think we could use a little smile in the middle of this Saturday, what do you think ?
If you aren't a SplitCoastStamper member yet, I urge you to get online with them; the inspiration is wonderful! If you are a member, and haven't been on in a while, go spend some time browing. And while you're there, . . . check out the LOVEFEST2014 11 day challenge currently ongoing. Jump in, get your feet wet, create a little! Join the challenge. It's a lot of fun! But hurry, the challenge is only good until March 3rd to create your cards and enter them in the challenges.
This card today was created for the LOVEFEST2014A challenge and the Pals Paper Arts #192 sketch challenge. I'm a huge Penny Black fan (so don't be surprised if you see one of these cute stamps show up on my creations once in a while), and just bought this cutie patootie stamp recently. I thought this was a perfect time to test it out.
The image is stamped in Jet Black Staz-On Ink on 90 lb watercolor paper. The image is watercolored with Derwent InkTense watersoluble pencils. I learned about these pencils from another crafter about a year ago, and I just love them. I actually wet a watercolor brush and then touch it to the tip of the pencil to pick up the color I want, rather than coloring straight to paper with the pencil itself. InkTense are very intensive colored pencils, so it takes some experimenting to determine how to handle the level of color on your projects. But they watercolor beautifully -- I absolutely love them. I actually "washed" the background with Stampin' Up Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery (retired) ink refills, and then came back in and added a little "depth" to the "ground" with a deeper green color. I'm not much of an artist in this regard, but I'm pretty happy with how the entire image turned out.
The sentiment is from a cute little set Stampin' Up! put out for Valentine's 2013 - My Little Valentine (retired). The teeny sentiment worked perfect for this card as I did not want anything overwhelming or that would detract from the focal point. It small pearl is the perfect accent.
I am totally in love with the Sweet Sorbet DSP from this year's Sale-A-Bration catalog. I framed this piece in Summer Starfruit and accented with the banner framelit in Crisp Canteloupe. Loving these new banner framelits in the 2014 Occasions Catalog. A must have for your steel die collection.
The fresh, light Springy feel of this card just makes me happy. My little hedgehog friends are huggable! I can just see the one asking the other, "will you be my friend?" :-)
Hope you enjoy -- would love to hear your comments.
