Happy Saturday Fellow Stampers :-)
Had a wonderful day with my good friend touring the Clyfford Stills Museum here in Denver, Colorado. Now I'm off to enjoy the theatre this evening with another friend :-)
In between, I bring you my Can You Create It challenge card from the Can You Case It challenge blog (CYCI20). I'm so ready for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday -- I love all things patriotic. So this sketch was perfect for me to get a jump start :-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- This card base is cut from Real Red cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" :-) An inset mat piece from Whisper White, just 1/8" smaller all the way around. And a 3" square from Night of Navy turned on point (as we call it in the quilting world).
Technique Tip: Always use a scoring tool to make lines. Don’t just fold by hand. This often results in buckling and wrinkling of the cardstock, depending on its “weight”. A great card deserves a great foundation on which to build. Also, use a Bone Folder to create a crisp edge on all of your folds. But be careful…too much pressure can lead to unsightly “cracked” edges.
- The star is cut from Silver Foil using the retired Stars #2 Originals Die -- however . . . Sneak Peak :-) : Guess what's coming in the new 2014-2015 Annual Catalog next week --- Whoot Whoot!!! We all can hardly wait!! :-) Most of us demos have been waiting a long time and crossing our fingers for a Stars framelits set -- and it is here!!!!
- Star Spangled Banner. The little garland of stars is a leftover from the December Paper Pumpkin kit :-) Are you subscribed for Paper Pumpkin? There's some pretty terrific fun stuff in those kits!! Did you know you can order pre-paid subscriptions now? Contact me to find out how :-) These little stars are the perfect topper for my simple little card :-)
- A "Pop "of a Sentiment. Yup, that's one of our pop tops that we had a couple years ago. Wish we still had them -- thank goodness for my stash! :-) The sentiment is from the new Starburst Sayings stamp set; stamped first in Night of Navy, and cut out with the Starburst framelits set, then stamped a second time in Real red, and just the center section fussy cut with my paper snips, and adhered in the middle with SNAIL adhesive. A few perfectly placed Rhinestone jewels -- wha la! A fun card :-)
I hope you enjoy this little Red, White & Blue inspiration this evening :-) As always, I love to hear your comments! If you ever have any questions about any of my designs, I'm only an email away (wendysbusystampin@yahoo.com). I'm here to help. Looking for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator? I'd love to be yours. Need a new catalog? Contact me, and I'll work with you to get you one :-)
Until next time . . .
