Hello Fellow Stampers -
Happy Sunday! Hope everyone is having a fabulous long Labor Day holiday weekend! I find the weekend going to quickly as usual -- LOL. But am enjoying a little down time.
Today is MOJO time -- Mojo Monday-style that is. As we are closing out the week, I am bringing your my MOJO Monday challenge (MOJO360) design, combined with the Crazy 4 Challenges card challenge (C4C251). C4C was a lovely soft very pastel color pallate challenge this week; MOJO was my favorite monthly sketch challenge -- Tall and Skinny :-) Do not be fooled when you see this card. These colors are very soft, very pastel, and give a very quiet vintage look to a card. The ribbon is luscious, but a very very soft gentle blue. The Blushing Bride and Smoky Slate are equally very muted soft pastelly tones. Overall, the effect of this card is a very soft pastel-looking card, which is somewhat difference for this time of year :-) There are not "pop" colors in this card. Even the Pistachio Pudding I used on the leaves is a very soft pastel color. I've inserted the color pallate from the challenge below.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Tall and Skinny. This fun style can be cut in several different measurements. I did a "smaller" version with the Snowflake card a week ago. When I do MOJO challenges, I cut the cardbase at 7" x 8", and score on the long side at 4". It's a nice size card that you can really do something with. This cardbase is cut from Soft Sky cardstock, 7" x 8", scored at 4"; then a center mat done in Smoky Slate, embossed with the Woodgrain TIEF, cut 3 1/2" x 6". A retired piece of Blushing Bride DSP is run on the left side of the center background piece.
- Focus Piece. The focal point of this card is the oval scene from the Choose Happiness stamp set. I really do like this stamp set. It has a lot of possibilities to it. In this case, the soft colors of the color scheme from Crazy 4 Challenges, has created a soft gentle scene from the backyard :-)
- All About Dimension. What gives this card its "pop" are the multiple layers laid with dimensionals, so that the card gets a lifted 3-dimensional feel. The oval is popped with dimensionals on the Woodgrain background; the bird and extra leaf are fussy-cut and popped with dimensionals, as is the decorative strip right above the beautiful Soft Sky ribbon and bow. Even the sentiment is "popped" with dimensionals to nest nicely with the double bow.
- A Tool for Every Occasion. Don't be afraid to make a card that is an "odd" size. Pull out that handy dandy Envelope Punch Board and whip up a perfect envelope in no time at all :-)
I hope you can see the coloring of this card alright. The coloring is so pastel, that it feel like it "washed out" a little on me when I took the pictures, despite my best attempts. It is such a soft and gentle pallate, and it just looks beautiful in real life. Our beautiful 1/2" seam binding ribbon, in this gorgeous Soft Sky blue coloring, just feels like pure silky elegance. Stocking up on this beautiful series of ribbons is a must for your embellishment collection :-)
I hope you have enjoyed today's design. Would love to hear your thoughts and comments. I do enjoy reading them all! Hope you find some time to get into your craft rooms and studios and do some creating before this weekend is over!
Until next time . . .
