Good Sunday Morning Fellow Stampers -
It's the last day of November -- so hard to believe. I have a lot to do with December right around the corner. Starting with getting my Christmas decorating under control. How about all of you? What is on your "to do list" as you start December? I'd love to have you share :-)
It's time for the Mojo Monday challenge (MOJO373) design for this week :-) It's time for the "tall and skinny" sketch challenge over at Mojo -- one of my favorites!
So many stamp sets, so little time. This is what I realized last evening as I looked through all the beautiful beautiful sets sitting in my drawer! Oh my! And Christmas is only 3 1/2 weeks away -- did you realize this?? LOL :)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. I chose to work with the Nordic Noel DSP collection and color pallette for this card, and for a number of designs that you will see in the coming weeks associated with the December SplitCoastStampers Creative Crew challenges. This is a highly unusual pallette in my mind - Soft Sky, Calypso Coral, Garden Green; who would think of such a combination for Christmas??? ;-) But it kind of works, especially with some of our more "clean" and modern feeling sets such as Christmas Bliss and Fesitval of Trees. This card base is cut from Soft Sky cardstock, 7" x 8", scored at 4". This creates a nice tall and skinny card with plenty of space to design. The background layers are Garden Green and piece from the Nordic Noel DSP - a nice collection of pine branches and cones :-) The diagonal layer is created from Calypso Coral and Whisper White, stamped with a stamp from the Festival of Trees set in Garden Green.
Technique Tip: Did you know that there is a right and wrong side to your scored card base? The “bump” formed by the scoring tool goes toward the inside of your card. You’ll notice when you fold inward so the score bump is inside that you get a perfect professional-looking fold and card every single time!
Technique Tip: Want to get a perfect line-up on your trees every time like I did on this card? Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig tool makes it so easy and mistake-free!!
- Rock 'n Roll. Have you tried the "rock 'n roll" technique yet? It's really easy and a lot of fun for a different look. I played with this, and made a bunch of trees, so now I'm going to have to find a way to use all of them -- LOL :p This one turned out kind of fun. Stamp in your lighter shade first (Soft Sky), then just "rock" your stamp through the darker shade (Calypso Coral), just on the portions you want to add a touch of color, giving you the effect of both.
- Finishing Touches. My Soft Sky double bow from seam binding ribbon and the "must have" pearls finish this card off to perfection! I love how it turned out, even with the unusual color pallate. What do you think? I'd love to read your comments :-)
It's time for me to go finish all my designing for the Creative Crew duties. Everything has to be up for the opening of the December Gallery tomorrow morning!
Don't forget, we're down to the final 36 hours of the Online Extravaganza -- and tomorrow is the final "doorbusters" -- you don't want to miss out on these! See all of the deals HERE.
Until Next Time . . .
