Hello Fellow Stampers -
It's Monday, and Pals Paper Arts (PPA226) challenge time. But before we start all that, I must tell you we have had an incredible change in the weather in Colorado! And I more or less witnessed it real time. We had been warned on the forecast for some days that a change was coming (we've been unseasonably warm for the past month); and this morning they said we'd reach a high of 50 today before the "cold front" moved in and dropped us to 30 degrees around 3:00 this afternoon. I am here to tell you, it happens a lot faster than that -- LOL. I went out at 10:30 this morning to run to an appointment. The sun was still shining, but the wind was blowing really bad. And you could see clouds forming in the skies from the North and West. By the time I made it to my appointment, ran in for the 15 to 20 minutes it took; and came back outside, the sun was gone and we were socked in solid gray clouds from horizon to horizon. It was really unbelieveable. In the span of about 30 minutes everything had changed. Now our temperatures are dropping dropping dropping -- and I just want to say to those of you living up North, stop sending your Polar Vortex down here please -- LOL :-)
Alright, onward and upward. It will definitely be a good week to stay indoors. Pals Paper Arts (PPA226) challenge this week was a color challenge. Since I'm feeling more and more in the Christmas mood, and these are definitely not Christmas colors, I was wondering what I was going to do with this challenge this week. And then I remembered an MFT (My Favorite Things) sketch I had seen recently that I immediately gravitated to and said to myself, "Self, (LOL), I want to recreate that but using Stampin' Up! products." So here is the result, and I'm just thrilled with it. I hope you like it as much as I do :-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- This card is a "clean and simple" card in Soft Suede instead of white -- :-) There are no layers to this card front other than the leaves themselves. This cardbase is cut the "long way" -- 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2". It is stamped on the front in Soft Suede with the fabulous Gorgeous Grunge set. I love this set for background work. The sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze using the For All Things stamp set.
- A Swag of Falling Leaves. This "swag" of leaves is cut using the Autumn Accents Bigz die, from Crushed Curry and Mossy Meadow cardstock. The leaves were sponged with Soft Suede ink. The "veins" to these leaves were added using the stylus from the Simpy Scored tool and a soft spongy surface. Yes, in other words, I did these free-hand. It really is so easy, so don't feel intimidated :-) The leaves are layered using dimensionals and glue dots. I really wanted to add pearls to my leaves, but I resisted -- LOL! :-)
This card design has detail yet has simplicity which is what makes it so pretty. I really love how it turned out. What do you think? I'd love to hear your comments and thoughts.
Let me know how I can help you with your Stampin' Up! paper passion. And stay warm out there this week everyone!!
Until Next Time . . .
