Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Guess What! LOL It's Friday -- we survived Turkey Day, and I even popped out for 30 minutes at 6 am this morning to get my .99 cent poinsettias at Home Depot!! That's as good as it gets for my Black Friday shopping -- I'm done for the day!! LOL Frankly, I have no interest in the nonsense, so I'll be home the rest of the day working in my studio, putting up the first batch of fudge for the season, and starting to put away the Fall decorations and pulling out the Christmas stuff. That is a small task onto itself and takes me about a week to get it all out and situated, so I'll be trying to attack that pretty hard starting today so I can get it done and enjoy it all :-)
In the meantime, we must take care of business, and it is Paper Players challenge (PP223) day! I combined today's PP challenge with the Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C263) this week. I loved this week's C4C challenge which encouraged us to create a card that reaches out and says "hello" to someone :-) What a lovely thought! As I was contemplating my design this week, inspiration hit very quickly and I grabbed a brand new stamp that literally just arrived on Wednesday -- I was so excited :-) And then part way in, I realized we had a wonderful stamp set from Stampin' Up! with a perfect image for this challenge too -- so I just had to make two cards :-)
As my followers know, I like to experiment with other products once in a while outside the Stampin' Up! realm, and this stamp is from Taylored Expressions - one of my "second favorite" suppliers out there next to Stampin' Up! They do have some beautiful and fun products.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. Both of these cards are created with a cardbase of Whisper White cut the "long way" -- i.e., 11" x 4 1/4", scored at 5 1/2". And both cards have a base layer of DSP. The one on the left is cut from a piece of Color Me Autumn DSP, just 1/8" smaller than the card front. The other is cut from Flowerpot DSP, a full 1/4" is smaller, to give more of a white border around the edge. Just kind of a mix-up to create some fun detail differences. Each focal point is slightly different from the other however, keeping with the spirit of the Paper Players sketch, but created with the focal image and the color scheme in mind.
- Colorology. (I love making up words -- LOL) This new stamp, called You've Got Mail - Fall from Taylored Expressions is just adorable. It lends itself so well to "coloring" and I used an assortment of Stampin' Up! Write Markers to create my mailbox and pumpkin vignette. I had fun creating a "weathered" look to my mailbox post and working with the fine tip of the markers to create just the look I wanted on the mailbox and other pieces. This piece is framed with Mossy Meadow; the sentiment is from the Six-Sided Sampler set and is stamped in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White, and also framed with Mossy Meadow. Our beautiful stitched satin ribbon is attached with glue dots in Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow, and topped off with a fabulous Gold Basic Metal Button and linen thread. Don't forget your pearls ;-)
- This version uses the For the Birds stamp set, which I think is such a fun set! In this case, in keeping with the PP223 sketch, I chose to create a banner using a sentiment from the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy on Whisper White, and framed in Night of Navy cardstock. The "miss you" sentiment is actually part of the mailbox image in the stamp set, but I separated the two for this design by inking them up separately. Did you see my little Tangelo Twist border at the top of the mailbox focal point ;-)
(Note: The ribbon on this card is retired folks ;-) But it was just retired this last year, so keep your eye on the Clearance Rack; you never know when something like this shows up on a fabulous discount!)
I really had a ball creating these designs last evening, even though I was stuffed from Thanksgiving dinner :-) LOL Which one do you like better? Won't you let me know what you think? I'd love to hear your comments. I frankly, can't decide :-)
