Howdy Fellow Stampers -
Are we recovering from Christmas Day festivities ? I'm starting to dig my way out around here; still have some things to get done, but at least my Studio doesn't look like a bomb blew up in the middle of it anymore! LOL
The picture above is Miss Laredo standing out in the front yard yesterday morning in about 8 1/2" of snow that fell overnight beginning late in the day on Christmas Day -- giving us an official White Christmas :-) Miss Laredo LOVES the snow!! She'll bury her nose and head in it and just burrow -- it's pretty funny. I call her my snow dawg!
Helping to mess up mom's shoveling!! Hahaha
This pic's a little dark -- but this Christmas Morning! Yes, that is my 4-legged child letting me know that it's time to open stockings -- in particularly, HER stocking - LOL
What's in here Mom?? Lookie Lookie -- Santa came!!!
So much fun and treats to mess mom's carpet up with and everything!! ;)
Christmas dinner at my surrogate mom's house :-) Another wonderful time!!
Yesterday, and today have been catch up and clean up the house and mess days. The cold weather has kept us inside. This afternoon was my Paper Pumpkin club members monthly get-together. We had fun!! [I'll post later about MPP ]
This evening I'm going to relax with a nice warm bowl of Creamy Herbed Turkey soup, snuggle up on the couch with my brand new fuzzy blanket Santa brought me, a cup of hot tea, and find something good to watch on TV :-) How about each of you ? What are your plans this Saturday evening? I'd love to hear from you :-)
I thought you might enjoy my soup recipe -- I love crock pot soups in the Winter -- makes the whole house smell so good; and it's wonderful comfort food to curl up with! This recipe is so savory -- you will love it!! Cut in half for a smaller portion - or make the whole thing and freeze some up for later.
Creamy Herbed Turkey Soup
2 cups water
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup chicken broth (or use whatever turkey base from your holiday turkey)
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
2 to 3 Tbsp. Flour
Combine the above ingredients in crock pot; then add:
Diced carrots
Diced celery
sliced/diced yellow onion
Next:
1 Tbsp. minced garlic
1 tsp kosher salt
ground black pepper to taste
1 tsp dried sage
1 tsp dried marjoram
1 tsp dried rosemary
1 tsp dried thyme
Either 1/2 cup of chopped fresh parsley or 1 tsp of dried Italian parsley
Finally - add:
1/2 c to 1 cup dried cranberries
Chopped cooked turkey
Let cook in crock pot on low, 5 to 7 hours (when carrots cut easily with a fork)
Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!
Until Next Time . . .
