Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
It's Tuesday -- and we have fallen into a "deep freeze" here in Colorado -- expecting to break some record lows today ;-) Eeeeeek! I think I'm staying inside -- LOL!!
I'm finally returning to a little designing as we're winding down the holiday rush; even though I'm still trying to finish up some Christmas letters and gifts. I have made some progress though, and expect it to all be out by the end of the week ;-) Guess folks can expect a New Year's letter or package -- LOL!
I thought it would be nice to end the year with the final Pals Paper Arts (PPA233) challenge for 2014. It is so hard to believe we are winding down 2014. It has really gone by quickly! This final challenge is sketch challenge, and kind of an interesting one -- and I chose to change it up just a little; although I stayed true to the majority of the sketch.
I also incorporated the fabulous color palatte from the Retro Rubber challenge (rrbc04) this week. I really liked the idea of a cool and elegant card incorporating a deep blue (Night of Navy), silver and white.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. I actually had something in mind for this card, and I think it turned out pretty well with what I was imagining. I kept this card fairly simple, but the details make the card. This card is cut from Night of Navy cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". One simple layer of Silver Fancy oil Designer Vellum in the stripe design, cut 1/8" smaller than the card is overlaid the Night of Navy cardstock for an elegant simple look.
- Delicate Details. Before the days of Washi Tape (or maybe around the same time -- LOL), we had a beautiful tape called "Delicate Details Lace tape." I decided, that although retired, it was exactly what I was looking for on this design. I cut a piece of 1" x 4 1/8" Night of Navy cardstock and then bordered each side with an 1/8" of Silver Foil paper. I then laid the tape down the center so the Night of Navy shows through. This is laid down the left side of the card front. [I'm noticing that one small little section of the tape is lifting up on me; and I've been playing with it trying to figure out why it won't stay stuck down -- so I guess a few drops of glue are in order ;)]. A few rhinestones, and this piece just sparkles ! Here's a Hint: Check the Clearance Rack -- you just might find some of this beautiful tape still for sale ;)
- Simple Sentiment. I chose a simple sentiment in a lovely font from the Lots of Thanks stamp set to create a "banner" on Whisper White cardstock, doubled with a piece of Silver foil. The 3 little snowflakes cut, using the Snowflake Card Thinlets die set, from Night of Navy and Silver Glimmer paper finish off this design.
This easily put together but elegant card will make a perfect "thank you" for all those lovely Christmas gifts you received this season :-) Give it a try!
Don't forget, that I'm currently holding a Blog Candy Give-away :-)
I have a lovely packet of products from the 2014 Holiday Occasions catalog -- 1) A package of the terrific Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper; 2) The Under the Tree Tag a Bag Accessory Kit; 3) A roll of the beautiful Cherry Cobbler 1" Sheer Linen Ribbon; and, 4) a roll of Gold 1/8" taffeta ribbon.
