Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Happy Monday!! :-) Off we go to start another week -- I think it's going to be a busy one. I'm hopeful it will be a productive and good one and that I won't feel too worn out.
It's time for the Pals Paper Arts challenge [PPA236] this week, and as promised, we're starting to play with some of the fabulous new Valentines products available with the release of the new 2015 Spring Occasions Catalog. Yesterday I showcased a little bit of the You Plus Me stamp set, and a specialty release from December called Snuggles and Smooches, a set I really do love! Today we will use the You Plus Me stamp set again, along with some other fabulous products to create a striking and unusual design :-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. I think there is nothing more classic and elegant than Black and White combined, especially when you add that "pop" of red. It's the reason I like the new Stacked With Love Designer Series Paper stack -- with the peaches and reds combined with black and white on one side, and the very classic strictly Black and White designs on the other. This inspired me for today's design, and I stuck to the crisp white and black with a red "pop". I very rarely do white-on-white, or even what would be considered a CAS design. It's not my favorite style. This one hits somewhere inbetween I think. The cardbase for this card is cut from Real Red cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". I layered a background mat piece of a black & white design from the Stacked With Love DSP, and used Whisper White as my top layer on which I worked everything else. Each layered piece is inset 1/4" on this card. Technically, there are really only 3 layers of paper here -- and then the focal point.
- You're Sweet! What a "sweet" sentiment from the You Plus Me stamp set. I stamped this sentiment on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, measuring approximately 1 3/8" wide x 3 3/4" in length. I then punched each end with the Scallop Tag Topper punch. The sentiment "tag" has been "strung
with Basic Black 1/8" ribbon, and popped up on the front of the card with dimensionals. Technique Tip: By holding your punch up-side-down, you can eyeball your paper and make sure it is perfectly centered before punching.
- A Quiver of Hearts. The "banners" added to this sentiment are created with the What's Up punch; the hearts are punched with the Confetti Heart Border Punch, and strategically placed using 2-Way glue pen. Technique Tip: When working with such tiny pieces, use your Paper Piercing tool to pick up the little pieces and lay them on your dot of glue. It's easy and works well! :-) Now don't forget those pearls!!
I hope you have enjoyed today's design. I really had a delightful time designing this card and was so excited with how it turned out! Sometimes the creative juices flow :-) Won't you tell me what you think of today's design? I love to read your comments and do read every one!!
