A Treat of a Bag!

 

Hello Fellow Stampers -

It's Hump Day!!!  Unfortunately, I've been lying pretty low today; just not feeling well and I seem to have a pinched nerve in my neck on top of that!  I hope I'll feel better tomorrow.  I was able to finally spend just a little time this afternoon in the Studio, and wantd to share some new product with you as we are kicking of this brand new fabulous catalog :-)

 

Today, we're going to talk the brand new Mini Treat Bag Thinlet die set.  This set is so absolutely fabulous, and I'm just so excited about it.  Not only does it make the cutest little "bag" to hold a cute treat or gift card/certificate, or even some homemade cards, but it also has a bunch of fabulous coordinating dies in the set that you can create all kinds of fun tags, and punch outs, and all sorts of things you can imagine!  :-)  Inspiring great creativity.

So first, -- let's enjoy the fabulous "How To" Video that Stampin' Up! gave us yesterday :

 

 

 

Then let's take a little closer look at just a couple of the fun "bags" I threw together for you to enjoy!  One is even a CASE of the SU! sample, so you can see just how easy it is to make these adorable ideas :-)

 

Very easy :-)  Bag is cut from Crisp Canteloupe cardstock, and embossed with the brand new Happy Heart TIEF.  The absolutely fabulous sentiment is from the new Big On You stamp set, stamped with Encore Gold Metallic ink on Vellum, and embossed with Gold embossing powder.  The cute heart is cut with one of the framelits from this terrific new set; ad it's all clipped in place with a cute mini gold clothespin tied with a piece of Gold Bakers Twine.  Fun ??

 

I LOVE this DSP -- and you can only get it as a free SAB item with a qualifying $50 order -- the new Best Year Ever DSP!.  Like that little "Enjoy" clipped at the top?  Also a cute framelit from this set!

This DSP is from the Gold Soiree SDSP paper -- one of my favorite sets of paper (and it just happens to be on the Weekly Deals this week!).  The cute heart cutouts come from a framelit in this set; as does the "For You" sentiment.  The "You Made My Day" sentiment?  Well, guess what -- from the new Best Day Ever stamp set that is a SAB item you can only acquire with a qualifying $50 order.  Better start planning those orders :-)

January Birthday Is In the "Male"

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

It's Tuesday, and because I'm running just a little behind on postings this week, I'm going to bring you two posts today!  One will come in a couple hours with today's Weekly Deals and promotions.  But I thought we'd start the day with this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge (PPA234) which I combined with the Can You Case It challenge (CYCI#51).

 

In addition, I had a friend and customer ask for a birthday card for a male friend.  Now, most would agree, that creating a "male" card is probably one of the most difficult tasks we face on a daily basis in card and papercraft designing.  It's very easy to make something with flowers, and ribbons, and pearls and bling!  It is not quite so easy to find that balance that makes something decidedly "male" and appropriate for the male recipient.  I will let you in on a little secret though --  we have some absolutely FABULOUS new products in the brand new 2015 Spring Occasions Catalog that are truly ALL Male!!  You are going to be so excited :-)

Today, however, I chose a stamp set that is quite versatile and works well to create a simpler "male" card design.  I also decided that the color challenge, even though it includes a soft purple color from our Subtles collection, could be used in a truly "subtle" manner (pun intended -- LOL), without overwhelming the card and detracting.  You will see it used here as a background mat or as a "frame."  It is not the focal color!

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card base is cut from Night of Navy cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  It is layered with a "background" layer of Wisteria Wonder, topped with Brushed Silver cardstock -- I love to subtle glimmer this cardstock gives this card without being overwhelming.  It's almost manly in itself -- LOL ;-)    Before I laid the Silver to the Wisteria Wonder, I stamped it first with the very cool "ledger" style stamp from The Open Sea stamp set in Night of Navy [my chosen set for this card].  I encourage you to use your stamp-a-ma-jig to align your image perfectly.   Next, I SNAILed my Silver cardstock to the Wisteria Wonder, then I wrapped a piece of Smoky Slate Chevron ribbon.  Finally, I used my Paper Piercer to create some "holes" so I could insert my Silver Star brads (retired).  I dug through my stash to locate these brads for this special card :-)  Now you can adhere your piece to your card base front.  Use plenty of SNAIL as the brads are heavy, and the ribbon is larger than most and can be chunky.
  

 

• All the World's a Stage.  Stamp that "globe" image with the Night of Navy ink on the Brushed Silver cardstock; then very carefully cut it out with the 2" circle punch.  Then select the circle from the Circles framelits that is just slightly larger and cut out your matted background piece from the Wisteria Wonder.  Now, I'll give you a little tip here.  I made my Globe sit at a slight angle by using one Dimension on the bottom, but stacking a double layer of Dimensionals at the top.  It's a cool effect :-)

You will note that there are no pearls or rhinestones on this card -- LOL.  The brads are a perfect embellishment for this "manly" card that still carries with it a lot of simple elegance.  Do you agree?

Happy New Year!!  Welcome to 2015 !  What a flurry leaving 2014 behind and flying right into 2015!  I took a couple days off from blogging and designing just because I needed to.  But I've missed all of you! :-)  I took yesterday to take down the Christmas tree and pack away the Christmas decorations.  Ever notice it comes down and goes away faster than it goes up??  LOL  Now the Valentine's decorations are appearing, and we've headed back to the regular day job, and schedules are settling back in.

These simple yet elegant thank you notecards are created with a Whisper White cardbase; but the image is stamped on Vellum and laid as an overlay.

 

 

 

 The stem is stamped in 2 steps -- Mossy Meadow first with the "textured" part of the stem; Pear Pizzazz second with the main overlay of the stem.

The flower is stamped in 3 parts - Step 1 in Encore Silver metallic; Step 2 in Strawberry Slush; Step 3 in Blushing Bride.

The blue flower is done the same using Silver metallic, Coastal Cabana and Soft Sky.

Happy New Year!!

Good Morning Fellow Stampers !!

 

Happy New Year!  It's January 1st -- December is over; the Holiday season is closing; and another entire year has left us!!  Whew!  What a whirlwind.  I just can't wrap my brain around how fast time is moving on me now!  It's craziness!  I hope you have all arrived at this morning safe and sound.

I'll admit it!  I curled up on the couch  last night, watched the Hallmarck channel, and dozed off around 10:00 pm; woke up just a little before midnight, tried to keep Laredo calm while all the stupid fireworks went off around the neighborhood; and then went off to bed around 12:30 and that was it -- LOL.  I know; I know.  I'm boring!  Honestly, with as bitter cold as it was here last night, I'm glad I stayed in safe and warm.

The sun is shining this morning, and depending on what this frigid cold front is doing today, I'm hopeful to see a few degrees on the thermometer today!!!  My good friend and I are heading off to see Unbroken at the movie theatre this afternoon after I enjoy the traditional Rose parade (the best parade there is as far as I'm concerned! LOL), and some pancakes for breakfast.

 

In the meantime -- I have a special little card I designed just for all of your, my readers and customers -- consider this card from me to you, arriving in your virtual mailbox :-)

I hope you enjoy my little New Year's virtual card design.  This design is inspired by last week's Mojo Monday sketch, which challenge I missed with all the holiday franticness going on.  Nevertheless, I think we can enjoy the beautiful sketch design and it works beautifully for what I wanted to accomplish here.
