Hello Fellow Stampers ;-)
Are you still out there? It's Thursday . . . evening . . . January 8th -- LOL ;-) Can you believe 8 whole days of this new are already gone?? Guess what!!! Christmas is in 351 days -- LOL LOL -- ok ok!! You can hit me later -- haha
It's time for The Paper Players (PP226) challenge (yes, we're back on schedule), and a look at another beautiful beautiful new product from the new 2015 Spring Occasions Catalog. I'm not necessarily gung ho about jumping into spring-like items this early in the season -- we have plenty of time for that! But this gorgeous stamp set has so much versatility to it; in this case I chose to create a vintage-feel card in a soft neutral (Crumb Cake), and purples. The stamp set? The beautiful Painted Petals stamp set. This card was also designed specifically for a Demonstrator Swap I participated in where we swapped cards created with new products from the new Spring Occasions catalog. I had a ball designing this card, and hope the recipients will greatly enjoy it as well :-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin Design Tips:
- Layerothology. As I said above, this cardbase is cut from Crumb Cake cardstock, in what I call "the long way" - 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2". The inset mat is cut from Elegant Eggplant, with a top layer mat of another piece of Crumb Cake, that has been embossed with the new Spring Flowers textured impressions embossing folder.
- Vintage Repurposing. In keeping with the spirit of the PP challenge, and really out of necessity, I "repurposed" my ribbon in order to have the color ribbon I wanted for this project. So here's the deal Stampers -- you don't have the ribbon color hanging on the rack that you really wish you had? The solution -- always keep Whisper White and Very Vanilla Seam Binding ribbons in your stash, and by using reinkers, rubbing alcohol, and our fabulous Stampin' Spritzer bottles, you can make ribbon in most any color you want. In this case, Elegant Eggplant. Not only that, I loved "variegating" the colors by spriting more ink color in some areas, and less in others. The seam binding ribbon really is just so beautiful and it takes color so well. While the ribbon was still damp, I scrunched and scrunched so that it would get some "wrinkles" to it. I think I had more fun making this ribbon than anything -- LOL!
These are the tools used for this project - I strongly urge you to use your Stamp-a-ma-Jig for this stamp set; you really are going to need it to be sure you petals and stems line up correctly in these images.
My Stampin' Spritzer of course; use 70% rubbing alcohol (not 90%) or you will clog your spritzer nozzle. Fill your spritzer within about 1/2" of the top of the bottle with rubbing alcohol and then slowly add drops of your reinker color or choice. I added about 16 drops to this bottle to get the color depth I wanted.
Finally, the other tool lying there is a tool I bought many many years ago and is fabulous, if you can still find one out there somewhere. It has a piece that runs against the brush, and as you turn it against the brush, it spritzes your cardstock with tiny tiny dots of color. You can see the effect on my card as I spritzed the flowers and the piece with the sentiment. It's a gorgeous effect!
I'm in love with this stamp set, and we will definitely be enjoying it somemore as we step into Spring :-) I hope you have enjoyed today's design; I'd love to hear your thoughts :-)
