Five Vases for The Pals Paper Arts

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

 

It's Monday -- Again!!!  Uggghhhh -- and the weekend just seemed to fly right by me.  It sure was a gorgeous one though.  Miss Laredo and I got in some great walks this weekend; and I spent several hours in my little yard and garden area yesterday afternoon cleaning up all the Winter mess and leftovers from last Fall and doing some pruning and starting to plan and dream of Spring planting ;-)  I did acquire some real pretty Tulips and Hyacinths this weekend to go with the pansies I procured last weekend.  It's starting to brighten up around here!  I hear they're predicting a Spring snow for later this week.  That there snow better just cool it and leave my new Primrose alone!!  LOL

It's Pals Paper Arts [PPA245] challenge time -- and it's a good one :-)  It was amazing to me how many different ways this Sketch this week could be interpreted and designed.  Be sure to pop over and see what all the other artists did!  As I was sorting through all my inventory and trying to figure out what I was going to do with this fabulous sketch, I stumbled across a stamp set I haven't had off the shelf in a while, which is really too bad as it was quite popular when it came out last year.  What a perfect stamp to create the "Five" elements in this sketch !!!

 

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card is cut from Whisper White cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  The background layers are Blackberry Bliss and a love piece of Painted Blooms DSP, all wrapped up in a Daffodil Delight 1/2" seam binding ribbon and bow!
  

 

 

• Paper Pieced Art.  These fun vases have been "paper pieced" with the Painted Blooms DSP.  The process to do this is not difficult, just a little time-consuming.  First the vases are sentiment have been stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Then the vases (without the sentiment) have been stamped on 5 different patterns out of the DSP selection and then each vase was cut out by hand from the paper of choice, and adhered to it's corresponding vase on the original image back on the Whisper White piece with SNAIL.  The flowers were colored with the Stampin' Write Markers Brights Collection.  The piece is backed with Crushed Curry cardstock, all corners rounded with the Project Life Corner Rounder, and the entire piece popped with dimensions on the card front -- positioned off-center to the lower right of the front of the card.

 

These cute "artistic" vases look like they should be sitting in the Impressionistic Section of the Art Museum ;-)  LOL

Don't forget your pearls to finish off your art piece!!

 

Today’s card was fun to make.  I'm glad I got a chance to pull this stamp off the shelf.  You never know what might be retiring in a month!!  We're going to find out in a few short weeks what will be retiring from the 2014-2015 Annual Catalog, as we prepare to wrap up this fabulous Stampin' Up! year and launch the new catalog.  It's amazing how quickly time has gone.  I dread "retirement" every year -- it seems something I've been wanting, or haven't gotten to use as much as I would have liked is going out.  Ughhhh -- How about you?  Do you feel you're ready for the "retired list" in a couple weeks?  Have you had enough of this catalog and you're chomping at the bit to see what's going to be fresh and new?  Won’t you let me know in your comment today?  Your comments are important to me, and I do read each and every one! Nature's Perfection for Mojo Monday

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

Happy Sunday -- Happy Palm Sunday actually!  I absolutely cannot believe we've come to the end of March and the start of Holy Week and that Easter is only a week away -- WOW!  The first 3 months of this year have just flown right by us!!!  I'm trying to figure out if I've accomplished anything yet in 2015 -- LOL.  Seems like I barely keep up with the chores from one week to the next -- LOL  ;-)  Yesterday, one of my sweet beautiful cousins got married.  As I sat looking at the photos posted on Facebook, I teared up a little.  I wish I could have been there with the rest of the family to celebrate her special day.  I feel the twangs of nostalgia as I "watch" her stepping into her new life and the next chapter.  It is such an exciting time when you're young and so full of joy, and hope, and excitement.  I wish this young lovely couple all the very best as they step into their new lives together.

It's that time of the week -- time for the Mojo Monday [MOJO390] challenge -- and another interesting sketch.   I actually contemplated this sketch for awhile; I had something else I really wanted to do, but I determined it really wouldn't work on this particular card.  Then I stumbled on some inspiration while on Pinterest, which sent my mind off thinking.  Ultimately, I decided that using this fabulous Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Nature's Perfection, was the direction I wanted to go.  Rather than creating layers of cardstock for the elements in the sketch, I chose to use the images from the stamp set, and a little bit of washi tape to design the sketch elements; and in the process somewhat of a CAS (clean and simple) design.  I'm really thrilled with this card and wish you all could see it in person ;-)

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card is cut from Whisper White cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", score at 4 1/4".  The background mat layers are Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, and a top layer of Whisper White.
  

 

• Focal Point.  This entire design is created on the top layer of Whisper White cardstock.  And yes, I did use my stamp-a-ma-jig to get my leaves just the way I wanted them ;-)  The lovely washi tape is from the Sweet Dreams Designer Washi Tape collection.  I really love this polka dot washi tape.  The bloom is embossed with white embossing powder on Whisper White cardstock, and then watercolored with Aqua Painters using Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe ink.  It is then popped with dimensionals strategically over the 90 degree angle of the leaf stems.  The sentiment is from one of my favorite stamp sets currently -- Lovely Amazing You - stamped directly with Baked Brown Sugar ink - in lieu of a real live "circle" as shown in the sketch.  The simplicity works well, not detracting from the layout and flower.

Simply Simple Saturdays!

 

 

 

Good  Morning Fellow Stampers -

Are you up and at 'em?  Or relaxing in your jammies with a cup of coffee ?  I'm looking forward to a beautiful Saturday in Colorado, and some serious Studio time!!!

Today I'm going to kick off the third series in a trio of new offerings, that I started a couple weeks ago, first with Ask Wendy Wednesday, and then adding Trendy Thursdays Product Focus.  Now we're adding Simply Simple Saturdays.  Simply Simple Saturdays is going to be "simply" about whatever -- whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.  It could be about me and Mom working on the Heritage Album; it could be about my wonderful gals gathering for a class; or it could even be about a "simple" CAS card or project.  Whatever it is -- it's "simply" going to be about the ease of the weekend and the love of Saturdays!!

 

Today I'm going to start with a kick off to Easter and a "look back" at a project from last year at this time.  This project has been so incredibly popular, and everyone is looking for it again this year.  Last year I asked that each person leave a comment, and if you did, you got the tutorial for this cute little project.  This year, because folks continue to pop in and are looking for this tutorial, I'm going to post it up, and anyone who wants it can access it!!!  How cool is that :-)

So the tutorial has last year's products in it -- but it doesn't change how you make this cute little basket.  But I thought I would make a couple with our fresh new papers and fun embellishments from this year just freshen things up a little, so here are a couple of samples to get your creative juices flowing :-)

Download your tutorial and enjoy :-)  This Tutorial has been "updated" with some "notes" here and there within it -- so keep your eye out for the "2015 Update" notations that will give you a new product to use in place of last year's or a new idea.  Pull out those fabulous new products we have this year and give these a try!!

Bloom for Peep's Sake!!

 

Howdy Fellow Stampers !!

It's F R I D A Y !!!  Thank goodness!!!   And an off-Friday too!!  Even better!!!  And the weather is supposed to be fabulous this weekend :-)  Maybe I can start a little Spring cleanup in my little garden  . . .

Sometimes you just gotta be silly -- and I'm feelin' silly -- LOL  ;-)  As I was contemplating this week's Paper Player [PP237] challenge design, I was wondering to myself, what on earth do I feel like doing with this sketch this week; it just wasn't resonating with me.  Then I decided it was time for something Eastery and Springy . . . and so I opened up my newly arrived For Peep's Sake stamp set.  And as I was putting it together, I was sitting there giggling -- because the first thing I saw was "Bloom" and then "For Peep's Sake" -- and I thought to be myself, well that's just funny!  I could just see me in my garden later this Spring stamping my foot at my flowers going "BLOOM!!!  (already) for Peep's Sake!!"  -- LOL LOL LOL  ;-)

 

Okay -- fine!  I don't care what you say -- it's cute; so I made a card -- telling ya'all to Bloom (already) for Peep's Sake!!  haha

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  Cardbase is Whisper White, cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  Back mat layer is Daffodil Delight, and the top mat background is "blooms" of course -- LOL  -- from the beautiful Painted Blooms DSP.   The top focal layer is Strawberry Slush and Whisper White, cut 4" x 2 1/2" and 3 3/4" x 2 1/4" respectively.  The top layer was popped with dimensionals after the little banners were added with glue dots.

• Bloom Already!!  ;-)  I inked this entire design with stampin' write markers so I could vary my coloring and do all the little details just the way I wanted.  And then I pulled out one of my very favorite sets, that I haven't used in a while, and made some little flower blossoms in the same colors, and punched them out quick and easy -- Petite Petals with the matching punch!
  

This is a quick, fun and easy card!!!  So pull out those Spring papers, your punches and inks, -- and Bloom Already!!  ;-)
