Hello Fellow Stampers -
Whooo Hoooo -- TGIF! Even better -- thank goodness it's an OFF-Friday ;-) Oh my do I have a lot to get accomplished this weekend. I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. All of a sudden time has gotten away on me, and we are literally days away from hitting the road for Salt Lake City and this year's Stampin' Up! Convention. I have a lot to get done before I head out -- and poor Miss Sade is going to wonder how come she gets a new "home" every other month -- LOL . Poor girl! I'll have to assure her that mom will be home very soon!
It's Mojo Monday [MOJO406] challenge time. Today's sketch challenge had me in a conundrum for a little bit; I think the result is fabulous! I hope you think so too ;-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. Black and White is so elegant and classy! The new Everyday Chic DSP is perfect for creating classy, modern-looking designs. I combined the Everyday Chic with the new Color Me Irresistible specialty DSP. This card base is cut from Whisper White cardstock (the new 100 lb. heavier weight), 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4. A background piece from the Color Me Irresistible SDSP, in the "black on black" emboss resist is laid against the card base (cut 5 3/8" x 4 1/4"). I then created a "side panel" to the right using one of the patterns from the Everyday Chic DSP in "white on black" against a white mat to "pop" the color a little bit against the black background behind it. The center layer(s) include a design from the Everyday Chic DSP (black on white) matted in Basic Black, and adhered with dimensionals. The final layer is your focal point.
- Remarkable You. I've been admiring this new stamp set for several weeks. It's large images are perfect for fussy cutting and "making a statement." I picked this lovely bloom for its size and structure. I thought it would go nicely with the sentiment from the Watercolor Words stamp set. Stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black on Whisper White, the focal point perfectly "tops off" this black and white design. The metal-rimmed pearls have the perfect classy modern feel to finish this card.
So, of course, after the fact, I was looking at this and wondering if I should have layered in some new Silver Metallic thread between the two top layers for some interest. What do you think? Is it better without the "extra" - left more classic and clean? Let me know your thoughts -- I cherish your comments and do read them all.
Well, it's a busy day here as we try to do some yard work, clean the house, and prep for a Spirited Stampin' Friday Night class. The ladies will all be here -- not sure if they're coming for class or to play with Sadie Ann -- LOL ;-)
Have a Fabulous Friday and weekend everyone!
Until Next Time . . .
