Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)
Did everyone have a fabulous weekend?? I was busy, but it was a 3-day weekend for me, and it was nice. Sadie and I have been busy walking, playing at the dog park, and going to puppy classes. Inbetween, she's keeping mom quite busy!! It's hard to focus on tasks at hand with a little puppy jumping around your ankles, needing constant attention and superivsion, and belly rubs!! -- LOL ;-)
It's Paper Players challenge time -- this week we have a "square" challenge. That is, create a square card. Now, usually when I make a square card, I make a 6" x 6" card. Today I did something a little different with my sizing, and even created a special envelope to go with it :-) Then I thought, well, why not have a circle on my square -- thus, the round peg in a square hole analogy ;-) Clever, huh? LOL -- let's go check out todays' design . . .
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. Today's card size when finished is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" -- thus, we cut a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock 4 1/4" x 8 1/2", and score it at 4 1/4". This is a cute size I think, easy to create an envelope for, and easy to mail! I love this perfect square front -- 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" -- each layer is cut in 1/8" square. The back mat layer is Cherry Cobbler; the background layer is Very Vanilla, stamped with the perfect set of leaves from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set in Old Olive ink, and then the piece is embossed with the new Brick Wall TIEF. Then I sponged lightly with Crumb Cake ink to give a nice outdoorsy distressed look to my "wall." :-) You can't have strawberries growing on a pristine wall after all -- LOL! The SNAILed layers are tied with Cherry Cobbler bakers twine before being adhere to the card front.
- Market Fresh. If you are one of my regular readers, you know that the new Market Fresh stamp set was one of my top choices in my list of "Favorite Things" from the new Annual Catalog. I've been itching to get cracking on using this stamp set, but it seems like I'm always busy with other projects. Today was finally the day! And what perfect timing; this is one of my favorite times of year when all our wonderful harvest from around the State of Colorado starts to come into the Farmer's Market -- I LOVE it!!! Mmmmm Mmmmmm These beautiful strawberries were stamped in Memento Ink on Very Vanilla cardstock; and then I pulled out my Blendabilities -- yes indeed! I hope you hung onto your Blendabilities. Take them out and use them!! Mine are still juicy and beautiful. The colors here are Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, and Daffodil Delight -- using all the shading in each set. Don't they look luscious? I love strawberries!!
- Circles. I punched my little strawberry bunch out with the 2 1/2" circle; then created an offset cutout circle behind it using Old Olive cardstock and the Circles framelits. I like how it allows the background to peak through; and the linen thread gives extra interest -- like the twigs of the strawberry plant, don't you think?? ;-) The strawberries are popped on dimensionals. Don't forget those pearls now -- I love the little elegant look they lend my strawberries!
- Turn to the Inside. Just a quick peek at the inside of the card. I layered Old Olive and Very Vanilla cardstock, then lightly stamped the leaves with a simple sentiment. Don't you think this would make a fun and unusual birthday card??
Don't forget to make that perfect coordinating envelope for your special card.
It's super easy with the new Envelope Paper, and Envelope Punch Board.
I made this one from the Tip Top Taupe to give a little earthy accent to my card; in the 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" size (look at your measurements on your Board), to give a little extra room in my envelope.
I hope you have enjoyed today's design. Won't you leave me a comment and let me know what you think? I do cherish your comments and read every one.
As always, I'm only an email away with any questions you might have, or if you need any help placing an order -- [email protected]. Looking for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator? I'd be honored to be your choice.
Have a fabulous Monday everyone!!
Until Next Time . . .
