Good Morning Stampers -
Happy Thursday! The weather is turning finally late this week. I think we're going to feel a snap of Fall in the air. One my favorite things about late Summer is the Sunflowers. I think Sunflowers are such a bright, sunshiny, cheery flower. If you have never seen a field of Sunflowers in North Dakota, you are missing out on something spectacular. Most interestingly is watching that field "turn" throughout the day, because Sunflowers turn to follow the sun as it moves through the sky.
It's Pals Paper Arts [PPA268] challenge time. Today's sketch challenge inspired me to play with our new Festive Flower Builder Punch. I thought I'd showcase how you have use this fabulous punch for more than just a poinsettia. So let's check it out!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card is cut from Whisper White cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The background layers are Into the Woods DSP matted with Mossy Meadow, and wrapped with some lovely Mossy Meadow 5/8" striped cotton ribbon. Simple and easy!
- Sunflower Petals. This flower was created with the new Festive Flower Builder Punch. I used an actual picture of a Sunflower to inspire me and guide me a little. A 2" circle was punched to layer the flower petals on, and I used Fast Fuse to ensure a strong hold of each petal. There are approximately 17 of the large size petal on this flower. Each of those petals has some free-hand scoring in them to give dimension. I did slightly curl the top layer of petals for some dimension. I used the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch to create the center, and the smaller flower center from the punch along with some pearls to finish it off. I added 3 "large petal" leaves in Mossy Meadow. The whole thing is popped with dimensionals on the front of the card.
I left a sentiment off the front of this card. I felt it detracted from the focal point and just didn't really fit in. Some cards speak for themselves -- and this way, you can make the card anything you want with what you decide to stamp inside.
I kind of like the say my fun Summer Sunflower turned out. I'm thrilled with how fun and easy this new punch is to use and play with. Here is my inspiration picture -
So what do you think? Does it resemble a Sunflower? I'd love to read your comments and see what you think.
Have a fabulous day everyone!
