Good Morning Fellow Stampers-
Happy Thursday! Did you enjoy the Blog Hop yesterday? Feeling inspired and ready to craft? I am truly loving this Holiday Occasions Catalog -- I'm having a lot of fun trying out all the new goodies as they are arriving at the front door 😍
It's Pals Paper Arts [PPA267] challenge time. This week we have an interesting color challenge. Although I, at first, thought I'd try another new product out and play today; I changed my mind and decided to use a love stamp I got back in July at Convention and haven't played with yet. It seemed the perfect time to play with another technique I like to dabble with once in a while.
I decided I needed a special Thank You card today. A neighbor did me a really big favor yesterday. I was stuck at work and could not in any way get home for lunch like I usually do these days to give Miss Sadie an outside break and some out of crate time. So I want to give him an extra special thank you. He not only spent time with Sadie for lunch; he came and got her out again at 4:00 pm. What a wonderful dog friend!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card is actually strictly about the layers. And my triple layer cards are done in a very unique way. I actually cut the pieces out of the center of the stamped images, and then frame each piece and pop it back in place. This does several things, including giving you a lot less "bulk" on your card, making it easier to layer back in place and cheaper to mail. The trick is to create cut lines on the back that are 5/8" in from the edge; and then 5/8" in again from the first set of lines. I'll give you a tutorial on this technique down the road at some point.
- Trio of Colors. The inbetween matted layer colors are Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Pool Party respectively. The three colors actually look really nice together. There are some dimensionals between layer 1 and 2; and between the sentiment piece and the top layers. Makes a nice little 3D effect to the card.
- Gradiated Ink. So how'd she do that, you ask?! 😉 No, I did not use the Baby Wipe Technique today. Actually, I used sponge daubers and graduated my color across my beautiful background stamp (A World of Thanks). I like using sponge daubers to create this effect. It's easy, neat, and tidy. No ink everywhere! And I could feather the color into each as I wanted and where I wanted. I love how this turned out. This new background stamp, introduced in the 2015-2015 Annual Catalog in June is one of my top picks.
- Thanks on top of Thanks. I used a sweet little sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set to create my little tag in the center of this. Another new stamp set from the Annual, this set is a fabulous "thank you" set and should be a part of your inventory stash. Yes, I used a retired punch -- but this one has always been one of my favorites; so until they come out with a suitable replacement, I'm holding onto this one!!
I hope you have enjoyed my thank you card today. I think a nice fresh loaf of Banana Bread will accompany this card to its recipient! Pull out those sponge daubers and give this easy technique a try.
Are you looking for a Stampin' Up! demonstrator? I'd be honored to be your choice.
