Hello Fellow Stampers -
A blessed Sunday to you! Not too often do I do a Sunday post; but I am working a little catch-up coming off a "week off" from blogging and creating and really wanted to slip in my regular Mojo Monday challenge design (usually brought to you on a Friday), before the challenge closes this evening.
I love the Mojo sketch designs, and I really love the monthly "tall and skinny" challenge as my followers know; and since this is the week of the "tall and skinny" challenge, I HAD to play!!! So off we go for this week's Mojo Monday [MOJO421] challenge design. I hope you enjoy!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from 100 lb (heavy) Whisper White cardstock, 5 1/2" x 7", scored at 3 1/2", thus creating your "tall and skinny" shape. I incorporated pieces of designer paper from the beautiful Winter Wonderland Specialty DSP for the background and mid-layer pieces. The layering that the dove is set against is 1 1/2" x 3 1/2", framed/matted with Gold Foil measuring 1 5/8" x 3 5/8". A piece of beautiful Gold Satin ribbon ties the two layers together.
- Dove of Peace. This is the first time I'm breaking out this beautiful stamp. This stamp is one of our single wood stamps that comes with sentiment attached. Sometimes I perform "surgery" and separate the sentiment from the image. I did not do that with this particular stamp. So what do you do when you want just the image or just the sentiment on a beautiful stamp like this ?
Very simple -- "mask" the area you do not wish to stamp with post-it notes. Ink up the image you want, then pull off the post-it pieces before you stamp to paper; that way you don't risk stamping any "outside" ink onto your cardstock. This is a really easy solution and is a "clean" method -- no mess; no fuss!
I embossed my Dove by inking with Versamark, stamping on Basic Black cardstock, and then embossing with powder of choice. The problem is, I had a hard time deciding.
What do you think? Do you like white on black, or gold on black?
So which way do you prefer? Which way would you have gone? Leave me a comment - I'd love to have your feedback!
I ended up going with the white embossing powder on Basic Black. I have a little "contraband" in my final layering here. A brand new "flourish" die I just got from My Favorite Things. I cut these flourishes from Gold Foil, and then laid them down, alternating "cut" dimensionals on the back of some flourish "leaves" and glue dots to lie flat others. This gives a really lovely feel of alternated "dimension" to these pieces. Gold Cording trim has been laid in swirls; and then the Dove, which was fussy cut, is placed with dimensionals over the top of this layering. The final embellishment comes from the beautiful new Iced Rhinestones laid in a smattering across the card front. I love the elegant Victorian feel of this card design. I hope you have enjoyed it as well.
- Turn to the Inside. As I said earlier, simply masking the parts of a stamp you don't want, and inking the part you do, is the way to stamp only the parts you want. I did this for the sentiment which I stamped for cleanly and simply on the inside of my card with Archival Basic Black ink. I ensured perfect alignment by using my Stamp-a-ma-jig.
The beautiful envelope you have seen lying in the background was created with the Envelope Punch Board specifically to match the size of this card. So easy to do with the punch board - give it a try!! The liner is also from the Winter Wonderland SDSP, and is created to coordinated and match the card.
I hope you have enjoyed this week's Mojo Monday design. If you have any questions about any of my designs, don't hesitate to email me - wendyklein@doggonedelightfulstampin.com. If you're looking for a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I'd be so honored to be your choice. With so many wonderful demonstrators out there, I know the choice can be difficult. My customers are special to me, and I appreciate each one of them.
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday --
Until Next Time . . .
