Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
How is everyone this fabulous Monday morning? Are you ready to jump into November? I have a lot to get done this week, so I'm hoping that my neck will do well, and that I won't be too tired and that I get through some major projects facing me. Crossing my fingers!
It's Paper Players [PP269] challenge time. What a perfect challenge to kick of the lovely month of November. Our demonstrator group is currently challenging each other to design and send a "thank you" card for the next seven days to someone special; someone different each day. This seems like the perfect way to start a month that ends with the Thanksgiving holiday; a time to reflect on our blessings and be thankful. I would challenge all of your, my readers, to try this little seven day challenge too. Whether it's the soccer coach, or a favorite teacher for your child at school, or even that clerk at the store that always goes the extra mile -- just a little unexpected "thank you" note to tell that person how grateful you are for them in your life. Today's design is definitely going to be all about Autumn!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card is cut from Early Espresso cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" (side fold). The background layers are Whisper White and a piece of the Into the Woods DSP, layered together and then wrapped with a piece of Tangelo Twist 5/8" Striped Cotton ribbon. The woodgrain of the DSP gives a nice rustic backdrop of my focal point.
- Leaflets. I'm using one of my favorite "techniques" on this card. I've done this a couple of times earlier this season - where I use the beautiful Leaflets framelits set combined with the lovely Happy Scenes stamp set and create a "scene" on the leaf. This time around, I did things a little differently. I used the long Oak leaf from the framelit set, cut 3 times, then sponged the edges of each leaf with Watermelon Wonder, Pumpkin Pie, and Soft Suede (with just a hint of Cherry Cobbler mixed in) before attache the 3 leaves at the top using glue dots. When attaching the leaves together, I made sure that they were "spread" sort of like a fan, and that I could still "lift" the lower portion of each leaf. I then stamped the image from Happy Scenes using Early Espresso ink, and stamping across the 3 leaves in layers - the back leaf first, then the second leaf, (lining up with the leaf behind when overlapping), and then the same with the top leaf. Because this stamp set is photopolymer, it is easy to line your previously inked image back up. Also, I only inked the front half of the image for the top leaf, so I didn't re-stamp the images behind the final time.
- Oval Portrait. My leaf bunch is finished off with a Maple leaf cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper, which is sponged around the edges with Cajun Craze, Soft Suede, and Cherry Cobbler. This beautiful leaf laid as a backdrop for the Oak leaves just sparkles beautifully in the light. The bundle has been tied with a combination of linen thread and Gold Cording. A "frame" was cut from Cajun Craze and Into the Woods DSP and popped with dimensionals. The the leaf bundle was also popped with dimensionals on top of the Ovals with some linen thread laid inbetween for additional texture.
- Thankful. The sentiment for this card comes from Acorny Thank You stamp set, and is cut out with the Bitty Banners framelits -- perfect! It is also popped with dimensionals. A Tangelo Twist 5/8" striped ribbon double bow finished off this card. Do you think I should have added pearls? What do you think?
You got a little sneak of the inside of the card in one of the pics above. A little stamping of part of the Happy Scenes image just down in the right-hand lower corner. Simple and perfect!
I hope you have enjoyed today's design. I'd love to read your comments, and do cherish every one!
