Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Happy Thursday! Oh boy am I ever glad this is my "Friday" this week. I have such a mess to deal with at home and don't have time to be at work anymore this week -- LOL. Seriously, I dropped my Peppermint Mocha from Starbucks right across my living room/dining room carpet last night -- O M G!! Thank goodness it was almost gone; even so, the mess was incredible. And on top of everything else, my carpet cleaning machine has given up the ghost. So tonight on the way home from work I'll be stopping and renting a carpet cleaning machine, and Friday morning, we're cleanin' carpets in the house!! All of them!! Hopefully this will push forward another one of those "Fall Cleaning" items I had on my list.
So, I was playing around the other night; there was something I wanted to try on a card. This design I'm bringing you today is where I ended up. I'd love to know what do you think! Let's take a closer look --
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- CAS Layerothology. Today's card base is Whisper White -- cut 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". I decided to create a silver "edge" to peak out from behind my top Whisper White layer - and I actually did this by cutting a piece of Silver Glimmer paper measuring 1 1/2" wide in half (it should be 5 1/2" long so it goes from top to bottom of the card). Then I laid a 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Whisper White over that, lining it up just right. And that was it -- no more layers!
- Faux Ornaments. I did try my idea with our beautiful new Detailed Ornaments Thinlet dies -- using the framelits in the set -- but they were just too big to capture the effect I wanted. So I reverted to my Circles Framelits, and played around with the sizes until I got close to what I wanted. Turns out the front of a regular card is smaller than you think -- LOL! Each of these circles is cut from Soft Sky, and then I stamped an image of choice on each one with Versamark and embossed with White embossing powder. I cut a coordinating circle from Silver Glimmer paper, and offset it slightly with the blue circle to give a little bit of a 3D effect. Each of these circles is popped up with dimensionals on the card front. Before I permanently adhered each only, I carefully lined up a piece of Silver Cording Trim with a glue dot and some 2-Way Glue with each circle running that to the top of the card, so it would look like they were hanging. My final touches were a little Silver Cording Trim bow and some Pearls (of course!).
So what do you think? Do you like? That envelope has been lined with some Home for Christmas DSP. So cute!
Here is the inside of the card -- such a sweet sentiment from the Cozy Christmas stamp set.
This design is really pretty in person -- it actually turned out better than I thought; my original concept was slightly different than this, so I was surprised where it ended up. Sometimes designing does that to you. I love the glitter and shine of the Silver Glimmer paper as you move the card in the light.
I hope you enjoyed my fun little design today. Don't forget that the stamp sets and DSP you see in today's collection will be officially retiring as of January 5, 2015; so if these items are some of the ones on your Wish List, get those orders in now. DSP especially will be "while supplies last" only I'm sure!! Be sure to check out the latest status of the Retiring List :
Have a great Thursday everyone!!!
Until Next Time . . .
