Good Evening Fellow Stampers -
I'm sure you have noticed that I'm taking a little bit of a creative hiatus this week. We are indeed taking a holiday break from blogging and designing -- it's the perfect time for a deep cleansing breath and some rest, along with many other designers and challenge blogs. It's the perfect time to focus on family and what's really important. So no Ask Wendy Wednesdays today. And we're not doing our regular line-up this week. I hope you all are taking this holiday time to enjoy doing other things and spending time with family and friends.
That doesn't mean we haven't been quite busy around here at DDS Studios however. I also promised you several days back that I would share with you my birthday card for my honey's very Christmas Eve birthday. I honestly think Christmas Eve and Christmas Day must be the worst days of the year to have a birthday. Nevertheless, I am intent on separating out the special person's special day from the other Special Birthday we all take time to remember on this holiday each year.
This card incorporates both about to retire Christmas product as well as soon to be released brand new Spring products -- so there's a little bit of a sneak peak here! I used a fabulous striped piece from the Home for Christmas designer series paper, chosen specifically because I thought it gave a masculine feel to the card background. I incorporated Island Indigo, Pool Party, and Real Red as my chosen colors for the card.
The cute "sleeper" set, Your Presents is my focal point on this card. I love this little stamp set, and I really think it went virtually unnoticed through this season and catalog, which is unfortunate. It's a simple set that is created for the "kissing" technique and just works so fabulously! My three little gifts have 1/8" Gold Taffeta ribbon wrapped around them and are popped with dimensionals.
Now for the fun "sneak peak." I used a brand new, soon available, Sale-a-Bration set called Hello for my sentiment on the front of this card;
and on the inside, a sentiment from the brand new Party With Cake stamp set. You are going to adore this new stamp set!!
So there it is -- although I used some Christmas paper and a Christmas stamp set, the color combination keeps the entire design from feeling anything like Christmas -- and that I like! How about you? Do you think it's masculine enough? The nice thing for me is that Mike likes everything I make and will appreciate it just the way it is.
So, I want to leave you with a fun little poem -- all about my gift wrapping fun!! LOL Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed Christmas -- I'll pop back in to visit with you as we arrive at Christmas Day; until then . . . .
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
All the creatures were stirring, well, except the spouse;
The stockings were hung, the tree lit up bright,
As I sat in the living room wrapping gifts, what a fright!
The dawg was nestled all snug in her bed,
With visions of doggy bones dancing in her head;
And I sipping Egg Nog, and trying not to stress,
Had just settled in for a long night of mess.
When suddenly on the coffee table, I caused quite a clatter,
I sprang from the sofa to inspect the whole matter.
Away to the Studio I flew like a flash,
Tore open the cupboard; barely containing the great crash!
My Big Shot I grabbed for, and a special die set too,
Giggling and dancing, leaving things all askew.
Designer papers and ribbon, glue dots and SNAIL,
Inks, stamps and scissors, all were flailing everywhere!
With a little turn and a twist, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment I had just the right trick!
And then, in a twinkling, I held in my hand,
The perfect gift package, it was like it was all planned.
With a sigh of relief, a last turn to the bow,
I headed back down the hallway, to return to my chore.
I filled all the stockings, finished decking the tree,
Then collapsed on the couch, and sipped at my tea.
Pretty pleased with myself, and thankful for my Stampin' Up! stash,
I heaved a great sigh, and wiped away my whip cream mustache.
Then with a twinkle and smile, I headed to bed,
Chuckling and murmuring as I turned out the lights,
"HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!"
Until Next Time . . .
