Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Happy Friday!! And Happy First Day of Holiday Break for me ~~ 😍 Now - the rub of it is that the next 17 days will probably just fly by! So how to slow down time and get the most out of this vacation -- hmmmmmmmmm . . . . So today we start by helping mom put up her Christmas tree. This will be the first time the tree has been put up in my parents' home since my father passed away over 6 1/2 years ago. It hasn't been easy since dad passed away; I'm finding that I am missing him more lately than I have in awhile. It is a feeling that comes and goes, but never really dissipates. Hopefully he will be looking down as we try to bring a little Christmas back into the familial home after all these years.
Then it will be time to jump in and hit the projects hard and fast as Christmas will be upon us before we know it; and I have an awful lot to do before next Thursday!!
In the meantime, it's Mojo Monday [MOJO428] challenge time. This will be the final Mojo challenge for 2015. That means that over the next two weeks, we will do some fun things of our own here at DDS; as well as take a little bit of a break from designing over the course of the next two weeks as well. It's a good time to just reflect, regenerate, and replenish our energies and inspiration. It will be time to start getting ready for the new 2016 Spring Catalog kickoff very shortly, and we will want to be ready!!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The background layers are a fun vintagey design from the Home for Christmas designer series paper collection, with a Cherry Cobbler mat, and the layers wrapped with a piece of 1-1/4" Very Vanilla Subtle Stripes Satin Ribbon.
- Tags & Circles. I stayed pretty true to the sketch today. The cute tag is created using the Scallop Tag Topper punch. I stamped the tag with a sentiment I put together from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set, inked with Mossy Meadow, and lined up across the piece using the fabulous Stamp-a-ma-jig. This is one of those projects that you can't accomplish without it! I cut a second tag with Mossy Meadow cardstock, and created a border for the Very Vanilla tag by just letting it "peak" at the top and bottom. The piece is backed with Gold Cording trim and popped up on the card front with dimensionals. The sentiment in the circle is from the fun and fabulous Cu of Cheer stamp set. I cut it out with a 2-1/2" circle punch; a second circle cut from Gold Foil is matted behind and slightly offset with it. This piece is also popped with dimensionals.
Our cute Home for Christmas enamel dots collection are the perfect finish for this design.
And here's the inside of the card -- kind of fun!
So what do you think? Is this fun? Not your style? Is the background too busy? I'm kind of liking the way it turned out; but I'd love to know what you think!
Here's wishing everyone a wonderful Friday and weekend ahead! May we all get lots of things done from our "to do" list!!
Until Next Time . . .
