Simply Simple Saturdays - A Late Mojo Monday Challenge Post

 

Hello Fellow Stampers -

Happy Weekend!!!  Sorry I didn't get my normal Friday post up yesterday like I usually do.  Thursday evening, when I should have been finishing up my design and writing up my Friday morning post, I was on the couch not feeling well and nursing a headache.  Ended up going to bed early.  Then I thought, well, I'll just get up early on Friday morning and finish up then; well, I slept in instead, and then it was off and running to an errand-filled, and both doctor and dentist appointment scheduled day!  By the time I got home from the dentist and the novacaine wore off, I was once again on the couch nursing more intense pain.  So needless to say, it hasn't exactly been a great start to my weekend!  This morning, I am finally feeling a little more back to normal, and have finally been able to return to the Studio and back to playing and puttering.

 

So here I am a day late with this week's Mojo Monday [MOJO432] challenge design - hope that it will have been worth the wait!  I always have a lot of fun with the Mojo sketch, and this week's was no different.  I was inspired earlier in the week by an advertisment I saw for Victoria's Secret -- LOL -- which is how this design's color combination came about.  Enjoy!

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card is cute from Basic Black cardstock, 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" - a top fold vertical card.  I layered with Whisper White and a piece from the lovely Love Blossoms DSP Stack.  I then created banners with the Triple Banner Punch, and pieces of Basic Black (embossed with the retired Spring Flowers TIEF), Blushing Bride Glimmer paper, and a piece of Vellum from the Sale-a-Bration collection, Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum.  Once I had those laid out the way I wanted, I created the focal point using Basic Black, Blushing Bride, and Whisper White cardstock selections, and here is where the fun really begins!!

• It's Your Day!  Today's bold sentiment is from the Party With Cake stamp set -- a fabulous stamp set with some great sentiments.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig today to create a fun shadowed offset look.  First stamping the sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink; then offsetting a "shadow" with Blushing Bride.  I love the effect and this font is perfect for this kind of technique!  The details for the focal point all come from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  Using the Balloon Bouquet Punch, you can create an easy, quick, and fun balloon bunch, to which I "tied" pearl strings tied together with Blushing Bride bakers twine.  Don't you just love the result?!  
  

 

• Turn to the Inside.  The inside of this card is made up of echoing layers to compliment the front of the card, and some more of the wonderful sentiments and images from the Party With Cake stamp set.  The whole combination just works so well together!

This design is feminine, and elegant, which just enough bling and fun to make it really pop!  Who wouldn't love to get this card in the mail! LOL  I'm thinking about some birthdays I've got coming up in the next two months, for which this card would be perfect!  Tell me what you think!  I'd love to hear from you.

 

 

I'm off to get some other errands and Saturday chores done.  The snow storm is threatening on the horizon, so I'm hoping to get myself settled around before it comes roaring in.  Tomorrow might be a good chili in the crock pot day!

Thursday Change-Up - Flowering Fields!

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

Here it is -- Thursday!!  Time for some just flat out playing with stamps and ink -- and that's exactly what I did when I sat down with the beautiful new Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Flowering Fields, and the coordinating Wildflower Fields designer series paper.  I decided that I wanted to make a cute little set of notecards with this fabulous stamp set and paper, so I just pulled out those super easy Whisper White Notecards and Envelope set -- so easy - everything pre-cut and ready to go!  So here's what I came up with you.  Hope you enjoy and feel inspired!

 

 

 I combined my card designs today with sentiments from the really beautiful Rose Wonder stamp set.  I ove the fonts and sentiments in this set.  The possibilities are really endless.

With a pairing of Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey on this card, this sweet print makes for a nice little "Happy Birthday" card.

 

I absolutely love this classic Black & White notecard.  The designer paper inspired this design; and I adore how it turned out.  The pearls, which you can just see scattered in the flower design, add that touch of elegance that just "makes" the design!

 

How about a nice gentle sympathy card?  This design echos the designer paper perfectly, with a matting of Blackberry Bliss.  Thank goodness for my stash of retired items -- I have always loved this ribbon; and especially in this color!  I used my stampin' write markers to color the little "leaves" and echo the designer paper coloring.  Did you notice that each card has a coordinated "lined" envelope?   It's so easy to dress up your envelopes with the Envelope Liner framelits.

 

Don't you just love this simple little card?  I left it without a sentiment - more of just an "everyday" card where you can drop a note to a friend and say whatever you want.  I love the cheery yellow, and the single flower stem with the thick baker's twine.  It just feels so "comfortable."  This version got its picture taken before the pearls got put on -- ooops!!  The final version has 3 nice large pearls lying along the stem.  See?  Another coordinated lined envelope  😏

 

This final design has lots of nice "white space" to it.  The pop of Calypso Coral in the matting, the little peaking banners, and the bakers twine, gives a nice color to this card.  The stamped images perfectly echo the designer paper again, much like further above.  I just love how the stamp set matches the designer paper perfectly in these two collections.  Again, I used my stampin' write markers to make and easy and quick way to color my little images to match the background paper images.

 

Would this be a cute little set of notecards to bundle up and give as a gift to a friend?!  😏

Ask Wendy Wednesdays - Things are Coming Along!

 

 Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

 Happy Hump Day!!!  I knew this week was going to go by fast -- WOW!! I was right!  I wish I could find a way to slow down time.  Haven't figured that one out yet!!  LOL

 

I'm just popping in today to give you a little update on the Studio and how we're coming along -- and indeed we are making progress.  I am so excited with how things are progressing I can hardly contain myself -- heehee.

 

The IKEA Kallax shelving went up several weeks ago -- so now you can see the completed setup along the south wall.  I have not yet decided if I will be adding a third, single line shelf unit; I will be better able to determine that in about a month or so.

 

 

 

The very first Stamp-n-Storage units (these are the paper holders) are now painted, and in place.  What do you think of the "pop" color?   It is nice to be starting to get a few things sorted and organized and put away.

 

Oh -- Look who has their very own little spot in the Studio!  😏

I have a secret -- Miss Sadie kind of settles in whatever spot she likes; mostly she likes to be over on the other side by the sewing machine -- don't ask me why! LOL

 

 

The next Stamp-n-Storage pieces will be ordered in about 2 to 3 weeks -- the next several paper holders, the ink pad combo holder (which will hold all my Stampin' Up! ink pads with their coordinated marker and ink refill), and the punch holder.  Once those arrive they will need to be painted and then put into their respective spots.  Things will look different again when that happens, so stay tuned!  I should also be ordering the floor lamps for this side of the room in the next several weeks.  I am excited with anticipation for the next phase of this project.

Beautiful Blessing for the Paper Players

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers !

Happy Monday!!!  Whoooooooooo Hoooooooooooooo -- we have an AFC Championship Team in town this morning - and we're on the way to the Super Bowl!!  It's going to be an exciting couple of weeks here in Colorado!  Certainly there was much excitement and smiles yesterday afternoon!  What a fantastic football game!

 

It was so distracting and exciting around here, I had a hard time getting back into the Studio and concentrating on the week ahead, and getting a card designed for today's challenge.  I finally did get to it late in the evening though.  I hope you'll like today's design.  It is indeed Paper Players [PP279] challenge time for this week.  I pulled out another new stamp set, die set, and some beautiful designer paper for today's card.  Let's check it out ~~

 

 

 

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card base is cut from our thick Whisper White cardstock cut 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  The background layers are Pool Party and Blushing Bride.  The Blushing Bride piece has been scored with the Diagonal Score Plate, every half inch marking, from both directions.  The layered vertical banner strip is a beautiful piece of designer paper from the Birthday Bouquet collection, matted with Pool Party. 

• Beautiful Blessing.  Everything in this design comes from the beautiful stamp set, Rose Wonder, with the coordinated die set, Rose Garden.  The sentiment was stamped with Pool Party and cut with the framelit from the set; then all the flowers used here are from the die set.  All the flowers were cut from the Birthday Bouquet DSP  so that they have a variegated look which is just so beautiful.  Then the rose flowers and the smaller flowers are stacked and curled on top of each for depth and a light airy look (backed with a 2" circle).  The absolutely gorgeous new Pool Party Glitter Ribbon is soft to the touch and easy to work with.  It makes a beautiful bow!  I popped in a retired Pool Party button from my stash, with a pearl in the center of course!

• Speaking of Pearls.  This design would not be complete without a nice smattering of pearls.  I laid pearls at the diagonal intersections, at the every inch marking to spread them out and give a balanced look to the layout.  There are pearls laid in the center of the small flowers in the center of the focal point, and pearls laid to the sentiment.  It's kind of the "frosting" on the cake I think!

• Turn to the Inside.  The inside of this card sports another one of the sentiments from this set, stamped in Pool Party and surrounded by some Old Olive leaves.  Simple and clean with a little space to write a brief note to the recipient.

 

I hope you have enjoyed today's card design.  This is a beautiful suite in the new catalog.  The stamp set has so many wonderful sentiments, both for the front and inside of your card.  It's a definite must have for your stash.  I'd love to know what you think; leave me a comment :-)
