Simply Simple Saturdays - A Little Catching Up!

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers !

 

Happy Weekend!  Happy Saturday!  I haven't written you in a while on a Saturday.  I had thought I would last week, but I ended up not getting to it.  Last week really truly was a "Simple Saturday" - a wonderful day spent with a dear friend, seeing a movie, having a wonderful lunch, spending time at the local Mall just browsing all the wonderful shops.  It was a much needed "down day" and was wonderful!

 

Today was definitely busier, but also loads of fun!  It was a beautiful day here in Colorado -- bright, sunny, and in the upper 50's.  Perfect January Colorado weather.  A great day for a walk.  Miss Sadie spent the afternoon with her Aunt Amy and cousins to play all afternoon, and get a walk in around the local lake.  Thank goodness for Aunt Amy!!  LOL

 

Today was my Valentine Class -- I had a full table today, and lots of excited and wonderful stampers playing away this afternoon.  I found as the week progressed, and I was working on designing and plans, that I got more and more excited as this day approached.  I do really love class time!!  I thought I'd just take a few moments and share what we made today!  Perhaps you will be a little inspired.  Most of today's designs are inspired by some of my fellow demonstrators or some ideas off of Pinterest.  However, I usually take what I see and step it up two or three notches (make it my own), so most of these projects and cards today are a "stepped up" Wendy original.  You know me -- LOL  --  I don't like anything to be too plain, or not have fabulous layers and bling.    At the same time, I try to keep things simple enough for class that the gals aren't too overwhelmed and can get the projects done in the alotted timeframe.  I also wanted the gals to be able to "touch" as many  new products today as possible, as well as be reminded of some of our wonderful "mainstays" in the Annual Catalog.  There are so many versatile products that you can use for any occasions.  Let's take a peak at today's fun!

 

 

We had five projects today -- 3 cards, a treat bag, and a mini treat box. 

The intention today was to create a variety of Valentine's appropriate for all types of special folks in our lives and to play with new and current product both from the Spring Occasions catalog, and the Annual catalog.

 

 

 

This beautiful elegant design uses the Happy Hearts TIEF, as well as the beautiful Bloomin' Hearts bundle (stamp set and dies).  The ladies got to test run the new Big Shot Die Brush and see how easily the Precision Plate works in conjunction with our new tool, and how easy it is to make these intricate cutouts now.

 

 

This beautiful and masculine Valentine incorporates the Going Global suite of new products, including the textured impressions embossing folder and the stamp set.  We also used the new Sale-A-Bration DSP, Perfectly Artistic, in this design.

 

 

This sweet little Valentine uses the new Love Blossoms DSP Stack, but incorporates a little bit of stamping from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, and flowers punched from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, as well as the two flowers from the Bloomin' Love thinlets dies.

 

 

This was our fun 3D packaging projects today - the mini box and the Mini Treat Bag thinlet.

Lots of fun are incorporated here, including the Bow Builder Punch, and punching leaves from the Bird Builder Punch.  Lots of goodies from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  Banners are punched with the Banner Triple Punch.  And we used the Stamp-a-ma-jig technique to line up the wonderful stamping on the little box.

Botanical Gardens for Mojo Monday!

 

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers!!

 

All I can say is TGIF!!  Whew!  And the weekend is going to be pretty crazy too!!  AND ~~  LOL  It's Denver Broncos Playoff time -- so we're all a tizzy around here!  Yes, I'm a huge Denver Bronco fan, so you'll just have to live with it -- Go Broncos!!!  LOL   I sincerely hope everyone has had a great week and has some fabulous weekend plans ahead, including a little time carved out for crafting!

 

It's Mojo Monday [MOJO431] challenge time again!  My favorite time of the week.  I've been itching to play with the Botanical Gardens suite of products and the bundle.  I did that just a little bit in yesterday's POST when I showcased the coordinated Sale-A-Bration products, Botanicals for You stamp set and designer vellum.  Today I'm going to play some more, and I really hope you will like the result!!

 

 

 

 

 Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card base is cut from Whisper White cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  The background piece is from the beautiful Botanical Gardens DSP, matted with Hello Honey.  The right-hand vertical band is also from the Botanical Gardens DSP, which I scored through the middle using the Diagonal Plate on the Simply Scored (I scored only the middle of the band, not the top or bottom), and matted with Basic Black cardstock.
  

• A "Different" Valentine.  This is a Valentine card -- what do you think about that??  Kind of cool and different, don't you think?  This fabulous sentiment is from the Friendly Wishes stamp set (in the Annual Catalog).  It is stamped in Hello Honey ink, and punched out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch; then matted with Basic Black, cut with one of the Circles framelits.  The piece is laid on a Gold Foil Doily with some Gold Metallic Thread laid inbetween.

 

 

• Building Botanicals.  I am just in love with the new Botanical Builder Framelits!  These flower have an extra 3D effect to them that is just so fabulous!  These two flowers coordinate with each other, and the colors in the background paper, Hello Honey and Pool Party.  They have a set of Basic Black leaves they are laid against.

The centers of these flowers, as well as the top left-hand corner of the card, are adorned with the absolutely fabulous new It's My Party Enamel Dots - love them!!

Thursday Change-Up - Create With Sale-A-Bration!

 

 

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers :

 

Wow!  We're really flying through this week.  It's been a very busy one!  I'm working on projects for the Studio makeover, and very busy prepping for my Valentine class this Saturday.  It's a week of meetings and other obligations as well, along with my regular 40-hour a week job -- whew!  No wonder I'm tired -- LOL   It's a short weekend for me too coming up, which makes it hard to get rested and be ready to jump back in on Monday.  We'll have to see how it goes!

 

I haven't talked too much yet about all the absolutely wonderfully fabulous Sale-A-Bration products available this year.  I showcased one stamp set and some of the fabulous designer series paper last week in This Post.  I wanted to look at a couple more fun projects today that would hopefully be quick and simple, yet have some "wow" factor.  I think sometimes my projects can have a lot of layers and details, and can be somewhat overwhelming for the more basic crafter.  It doesn't have to be "over the top" in details to be beautiful and fun!  Sometimes simple is nice too and has just as much impact.

Let's take a look at just a couple of projects today that I think you will find easy to whip together in your own craft room and really showcase some of our wonderful new Sale-A-Bration products that I just think are cute and so useful for all types of occasions.

 

 

I've been focused on the upcoming Valentine's holiday lately.  This adorable image and sentiment from the Honeycomb Happiness stamp set could very easily be used for Valentine's Day.  I was going to attach a few little punched hearts, but changed my mind and stayed with the fun and simple It's My Party enamel dots.  By keeping this design just a tad "generic," you could use it for Valentine's, as a "thank you," or even just a "thinking of you" card sent to a friend.  The Mint Macaron, Basic Black, and Whisper White color combination are just beautiful together.  I used a piece of designer series paper from the It's My Party designer series paper pack.  The fabulous two-tone baker's twine is  great finishing touch.

My next design today uses the "Limited Edition" Hello stamp set!  Love this cute little stamp set, with it's bold greeting!  This card uses the color combination found in the new Love Blossoms designer series paper stack - Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride, and Rose Red, with Whisper White as the neutral color.  I added a Gold metallic doily, our fabulous new Blushing Bride glimmer paper, and sequins from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit (with a few pearls topping them off of course -- LOL).  The Triple Banner Punch makes creating these layered banners so easy!!

My final design today uses the Botanicals for You stamp set.  This grouping of products from the Sale-A-Bration catalog coordinates with the Botanical Gardens suite in the new 2016 Spring Occasions Catalog.  This suite is one of my Top Ten Favorite Things (you can see that post HERE), and subsequently, this collection from the Sale-A-Bration brochure is one of my very top picks!!  I love this bold sentiment from this stamp set; and you really can make it the centerpiece and work everything else around it!  Additionally, the beautiful Botanical Gardens Designer Vellum Pack coordinates in step with the Botanical Gardens DSP out of the Spring catalog - literally a matched overlay that you are going to love.  Here is a quick video clip from SU! on this new Vellum and how it works with our new Botanical Gardens DSP:

For this card design, I stamped the bold sentiment in Versamark on one of the Vellum pieces from the Botanical Gardens Designer VP (page 4 of the Sale-A-Bration brochure), and embossed with Black embossing powder.   The piece is then overlaid on a coordinated piece of the Botanical Gardens DSP.  The rich vibrant colors of this colorway just really draw me in - Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, accented with Basic Black as the neutral.  This collection feels very tropical to me; but not Hawaiian tropics; more South American tropics.

Ask Wendy Wednesdays - These Are a Few of My Favorite Things! - 2016 Spring Catalog Edition

Happy Wednesday -- and welcome to Ask Wendy Wednesday's!  It's nice to be back, and it's time for My Favorite Things from the current new catalog release; the 2016 Spring Occasions Catalog.  I love this catalog and all it has to offer.  Like my fellow demonstrators, it has been hard to not "want it all."  Here are my "top ten picks" (and a few extra) for this catalog, that I recommend should be on your "must have" wish lists!

    1.  Botanical Blooms Bundle (w/stamp set, Botanical Builder Framelits & Botanical Gardens DSP):  This has to be my number one pick from this catalog; and that's hard to say because there are a lot of products that are running right at the top for me this year.  Did you know that this bundle not only includes the coordinated stamp set and framelits, but ALSO the designer series paper?  It's the only bundle that has ever been put together like that!!  $51.75 for all three of these products together is a Steal!!

 

    2.  Grateful Bunch Bundle (w/stamp set and Blossom Bunch Punch):  This sweet, simple little stamp set ranks right up top for me; along with it's wonderful new coordinated punch.  I love the little tea lace edging image, the little daisy flowers and the sweet sentiments (don't miss that butterfly)!  The bundled price makes it easy to afford, and the versatility for Spring will be hard to beat.

 

    3.  Bloomin' Love Suite:  I adore everything about this Bloomin' Love Suite - the gorgeous vintage stamp set, the WOW thinlet set, the coordinated designer series papers, and certainly the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit (Honorable Mention).  The bundled stamp set and thinlet die are an absolute "must have" for any intricate die lovers out there.  You will love this die.  It is exquisite!!  I'm putting the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper here as an Honorable Mention as well, as I'm just over the moon about any glimmer paper, but especially those that coordinate with our Color Collections.  The paper is gorgeous!

 

    4.  Balloon Celebration Bundle:  I love all our new birthday sets -- they are all incredibly fabulous.  This bundle is "tops" -- with it's coordinated new Balloon Bouquet punch.  I love punches for their ease of use.  This stamp set and punch are so much fun and are going to give you hours of birthday balloon bouquet fun on all kinds of card designs!!  Check it out today!

 

    5.  Party With Cake!  This bundle and suite run a very close tie for me with all our wonderful balloon fun this year.  Honestly, when I first saw this new die I was head over heels.  Stampin' Up! is very "on trend" with this product offering this year and definitely keeping up with several of the other new products on the market this first quarter by Simon Says Stamp and several others.  Knowing our products, I can tell you without hesitation that the quality is far superior to any others you can purchase.  This die and stamp set, coordinated with the new papers, are a "top pick" for me and all sorts of birthday card fun this Spring!

 

    6.  Birthday Blooms:  This stamp set spoke to me immediately when I saw it - and I had a "sneak peak" from Ann Schach coming out of Founder's Circle late this Summer, long before anyone else!  I love flowers, and these are bold, yet sweet, and are perfect for all sorts of watercoloring fun!!  Coordinate them with the beautiful (and I mean beautiful) Birthday Bouquet DSP (my Honorable Mention here at Number 6) and you have one beautiful card that any recipient would love to have!  Perfect for birthdays, Mother's Day, Springtime "just because," Sympathy, and so much more!  And don't miss out on the fabulous Honeycomb embellishments -- hint, hint, hint!

 

    7.  Have A Cuppa Bundle (w/stamp set and Cups & Kettles Framelits):  Here is an absolute "must have" bundle with all the accessories you will ever need to make the most adorable cards and gifts!  I am so excited about this set, I can't even put it into words.  A D O R A B L E!  Pair it with the beautiful pastel Have A Cuppa designer series paper stack (another Honorable Mention)!!  Want Another Hint?  I highly suggest adding the new Timeless Textures stamp set (another Honorable Mention) with this bundle for endless options for backgrounds and prints on your cups and elsewhere; and also the beautiful Flowering Flourishes from the Annual catalog (pg. 20), will give you many more options for varied and beautiful looks to your creations with this bundle!

 

    8.  Going Global.  I can't say enough about this entire suite of products.  I love everything about it so I bundled all the offerings into one bullet point here.  It just wasn't possible for me to pick the Going Global stamp set over the World Traveler textured impressions embossing folder, or the fabulous Going Places designer series paper, as being the best pick!  You really have to have them all as they work together and just are fabulous!!  I love the masculine feel to this suite; I'm excited about getting my hands on this set of products and doing some creative thinking for all kinds of masculine birthday, and Father's Day and other cards later this Spring.  I also think you can make some really beautiful CAS cards with these products that everyone will love!  "Must Have"  Everyone!!

 

    9.  Wink of Stella.  I really actually thought I had died and gone to heaven when I saw that Stampin' Up! had finally teamed up with Zig to bring us Wink of Stella glitter pens!!  O M G!!  If you hate the mess of glitter, but love shimmer on your projects, then you absolutely MUST HAVE a Wink of Stella brush pen.  Our Spring catalog has two colors - Clear and Gold - and they are both fabulous!!  I have already been playing, and the effects are just gorgeous!! 

 

    10.  Big Shot Die Brush.  I am so thrilled that Stampin' Up! continues to work with Sissix to bring us the latest and greatest tools and accessories.  The new Big Shot Die Brush is a must have for all our wonderful intricate thinlet dies.  I had seen this wonderful tool recently with one of Keisha Charles' project lists, and I really wanted to know all about it.  Imagine my thrill when I saw it was part of our new Spring catalog products!  Now I don't have to go hunt down a different version on Amazon!  LOL ---  This tool, in conjunction with the wonderful Precision Base Plate, has made using our beautiful intricate dies an absolute breeze!!!  Another Must Have!!
