Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
It's Thursday -- time to play! And I had a lot of fun playing with today's design. While my little Miss Sadie was sound asleep in her corner after a long day of playing with her BFF's at Day Camp, I pulled out my inks and brushes and watercolor paper, and settled in for a lovely evening of crafting while watching a good movie. I love how this turned out . . . .
I have not spent a lot of time with the Rose Wonder stamp set yet -- I've used a number of the sentiments, and played with coordinated dies; it was nice to play with the gorgeous rose image in the stamp set itself.
I am showcasing a new technique today that I will be teaching in my March Watercolor Technique class. This card is one of the ones we will work with at that class.
I actually played with several different versions; this is the one I decided to showcase to you today.
This is called the "No-Line Watercolor" technique. And I'm really enjoying playing with this.
This technique works beautifully with the rose image in this stamp set.
Unlike other watercolor techniques where you stamp a "harsh" dark outline of your image and try to "stay within the lines," or even emboss and do a watercolor resist, this technique is all about a soft outline that takes on the color around it.
I'm using Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper for my work on this design today. And although I used all Stampin' Up! inks for this particular design, I am intending on playing with Tim Holtz Distress Inks next to see what different effects I get.
The image is stamped in Daffodil Delight; and then the watercoloring effects literally bleed into that and leave you with a lovely soft watercolor and artsy look to the entire piece.
I did a lot of playing with colors in this flower. I started with Daffodil Delight and then overlaid some Blackberry Bliss, Watermelon Wonder, and some VersaMagic Perfect Plumeria Chalk Ink.
I think I could have a lot of fun doing a whole bunch of these -- LOL
I'd love to know what you think of today's technique and design. Leave me a comment with your thoughts and critiques. Would you be willing to give this a try? It's easier than it looks; just need a little bit of a steady hand! I'm looking forward to giving my class the "inside scoop" on this fun technique.
