Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
TGIF!!! WOW! What a week; and it isn't over yet!! I've got a busy weekend ahead of me!! Tomorrow morning I'm taking my mother to brunch for her 74th birthday! Hard to believe! And I've got my gals coming to an ASE's Watercoloring Technique Class in the afternoon. I am sooooo looking forward to that class; we are going to play with some pretty fun stuff and I'm just excited about it!! I'm hoping to share more about all of that later this weekend!
In the meantime, it is indeed Mojo Monday [MOJO439] challenge time -- I admit it; my favorite challenge each week! I took a "page" from my upline, Ann Schach, for today's design. I loved what she did for this week's Pals Paper Arts challenge and so I ran with it, and made it a little more my own asthetic in terms of layering and ribbons and so forth in the process. It's kind of interesting to me how closely the two challenge's sketches resembled each other this week. In reality, when you're designing a card, basic rectangles and circles, or elements in those arrangements, make for a good design!
Here is my color inspiration this week -- taken straight from the beautiful Birthday Bouquet DSP I chose to use in this design:
It's time to make my Mother's Birthday card -- and since her birthday falls right on the first day of Spring, which is her favorite time of year, it's the perfect time to create a soft, beautiful, floral card with lots of elegance and bling. I'm also using one of my top ten Favorite Things Picks, the Botanical Gardens suite including the stamp set and framelits! Ready to play?
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Pool Party cardstock, 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" - a top fold vertical card [this is a very popular fold direction for cards right now]. You know I'm a layer girl so let's step through a few layers here :
- Background Layer - Daffodil Delight matting is overlaid with Whisper White cardstock which has been embossed with the beautiful Fluttering textured impressions embossing folder.
- Banner - The banner (cut with the Banner Triple Punch), consists of Blushing Bride and a piece from the Birthday Bouquet DSP.
- Mid-Horizontal Layer - the midway horizontal piece which lies just behind the circles is also a piece from the beautiful Birthday Bouquet DSP, matted with Pool Party cardstock. The entire stack of layers, once put together, is bound by a piece of Pool Party Glitter ribbon, and then adhered to the card front.
- Background Layer - Daffodil Delight matting is overlaid with Whisper White cardstock which has been embossed with the beautiful Fluttering textured impressions embossing folder.
- Happiest of Birthdays -- This beautiful sentiment from the Birthday Blooms stamp set, is stamped in Blushing Bride classic ink, and punched out with the 2-1/2" Circle Punch. The piece is matted with another 2-1/2" Pool Party circle, and popped with dimensionals.
- Botanical Blooms - My spring flower bouquet is created with the beautiful Botanical Builders framelit and a variety of Pool Party, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive cardstocks. I adore these framelits. The resulting flowers are just so gorgeous. The flowers are finished off with enamel dots from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit, and a few pearls. Did you see the Pool Party double bow?? 😉
- Turn to the Inside. This sweet little sentiment is from the Suite Sayings stamp set. It coordinates beautifully with my elegant card and the sentiment on the front from Birthday Blooms. Be sure to check out this stamp set -- it has some beautiful sentiments in it.
I'm hoping my Mother will enjoy this card. It should be right up her alley since she has a whole living room in pink and white; and a family room in blue and white -- LOL
