Good Morning Fellow Stampers --

TGIF!!  It's been a long week in many regards.  And we're ending it with cold and snow.  Uggghhhh.  April is going out with a "bang" I think.  Doesn't seem like an awful lot of April Showers around here this year.  Although, the Lilac bush at the entrance to my drive is going into full bloom and is just beautiful.  I love Lilacs!!  I guess we can hope that things will improve a little as we step into the beautiful month of May!

It's Mojo Monday [MOJO445] challenge time!!  This week was fun!  We could make a "round" card or a "square" card.  And just for fun, and just because I never have, we're making a round card today!!  And we're going to use those soon retiring Circles framelits ~~  a good time to remind myself and all of you why we need our Circles framelits, and why we should hang onto them even after they have retired out of the catalog as of May 31st.

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  Well, this is a different kind of a card ~~  and really fun to create!  So pull out those Circle Framelits, and let's chat! 
  

Using the larger scallop circle in the set, I cut a "folded" version of the circle from a regular piece of 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" piece of cardstock, scored and folded at 4 1/4".

By laying the framelit so that the upper section sits above the fold, you cut only below the fold and keep the fold intact -- this gives you a folded card.

I then cut a full second scallop circle from a second piece of Whisper White cardstock, and attached it to the front of the folded card, lining up the scallops.

Now you have what looks like a full circle on the front of the card; with a folded support behind it creating a complete card!

Easy Peasy!!

 

• Circles on Circles.  Now you can create some circles layers with the rest of your framelits.  I used the next two inset circles from the outer largest scallop to create my Daffodil Delight and Rose Red layered circles.  I then cut a circle the same size as the Rose Red cardstock from the It's My Party designer series paper.  I then carefully lined up and cut about 1 1/4" off one side of the circle with my Stampin' Trimmer; then flipped the circle and cut 1 1/4" off the other side.  This gave me my horizontal strip across the center of the circle that lined it up perfectly with the Rose Red circle edge to edge.

• A Little Sneak Peak.  Yup, there's a little bit of a sneak peak in this card.  Can you see what it is ??  ;-)  If you watched my Sneak Peak Video on Wednesday, I'll bet you have it figured out!!  Yes indeed -- I opened up those beautiful new Layering Squares Framelits and broke them in a little bit.  Don't you love the scallop Daffodil Delight mat square with the straight edge Whisper White inset square?  So perfect!!  I pulled out my beautiful Watercolor Wings stamp set to finish this card off.  The sentiment and the gorgeous butterflies, cut with the Butterflies Thinlits  create a nice bright Spring card.  I slipped in the Daffodil Delight 1/4" cotton ribbon bow, with some extra long tails that I threaded under the popped up squares to create a neat effect.  Rhinestones, and some Wink of Stella on the butterfly wings finish off this fun card!  I think I'm going to miss all our beautiful 1/4" cotton ribbons.  I use it quite a bit and it's so nice to tie bows with.

The inside of this card has some layered circles too!

And when I'm ready, I can either just write a simple note; or stamp an additional message of choice!

I love it!!

 

 

Finally, a special card like this has to have a special envelope, right??!! ;-)

Pull out that fabulous Envelope Punch Board and create one on the spot.

 

This envelope is made from another piece of It's My Party DSP; I created a 5"x 5" using the measurements and directions on the board,

which effected the perfect size envelope for this Circle card!

Thursday Change-Up - Beautiful Bunch!

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

Happy Thursday!  Well, can you believe it!  They're threatening snow starting this evening at 6:00 pm, and off and on through the entire weekend.  Ughhhhhhhh . . . .  It is about to be May, right??  LOL  Sigh -- Unfortunately, I do live in Colorado; and believe it or not, it can snow all the way to June here.  Hasn't happened much; it has happened!

 

It's time for a little Thursday fun.  This is the day I just play and do whatever I want.  I'm trying to showcase soon retiring items to you right now; some of my favorites and things I hope you haven't missed in the past couple years.  Today's feature is a stamp set and punch that I loved from the very beginning!  It pairs well with our Pansy flower and Petite flower stamp sets and punches; but is just as lovely on its own.

I'm also featuring our soon retiring In Color collection today and some of the accessories that go with that; as well as the Word Window Punch which will be retiring and leaving us the end of May.  All of these products are just fabulous!  They are well worth having in your repertoire.  Let's take a look . . .

 So which of the soon retiring In Colors was your favorite?  Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist?  I have to say that I think Blackberry Bliss was always my all time favorite, with Lost Lagoon and Mossy Meadow running a close second right behind.

 

Today's card design was actually inspired by the incredible Rachel Tessman ~ just one of the most talented and sweet demonstrators.

I took a simple idea she did the other day, and dressed it up into what I call a "Wendy" card -- LOL

 

The beautiful flower stamp set is just so much fun; and the coordinated punch makes it easy peasy to make flowers to your heart's content!

 

I created a design that I duplicated in each of the 5 In Colors.

 

I created a matted border for each card using the featured In Color; the Whisper White background is stamped with the floral image(s) from the stamp set with Smoky Slate, stamped off once first for the larger flower; and full strength for the smaller "burst" floral center.  The the other floral image is stamped in the feature color, and punched out, and adhered with dimensionals.

The layers are wrapped with the featured In Color's coordinated striped cotton ribbon.  It's a lovely casual look that just is so easy to achieve.

 

I used the Crazy About You stamp set (carrying forward), for my greetings on these card designs.  They fit perfectly in the Word Window Punch and just have a nice clean font which works well here.

 

Here is an example of what I did inside the Blackberry Bliss card.  The front sentiment says "Just Sayin'"

On the inside, I stamped the flowers in Smoky Slate again (stamped off once first), and then the "Hello" sentiment in Blackberry Bliss.

Simple but fun!

 

This is such a fun and simple way to make a fabulous set of cards ~~  a great stash builder for those moments when you need a great card really quick!

Blossoms for Mother

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

 

Happy Monday!!  How is everyone after this busy Spring weekend?  There have been many goings on around here, and turns of events.  Some of those we'll talk about down the road some . . .

 

In the meantime, a tip for everyone.  Do not eat melty chocolate-covered pretzels while designing a card - especially a very white card.  Just sayin' . . .  LOL

 

It's Paper Players [PP292] challenge time. This week is a fun sketch challenge, which in the end caused me great grief and trouble.  'Course, maybe it was the melty chocolate pretzels -- haha.  I actually started one card, hated how it was turning out; literally threw everything away.   Walked away and took a hot shower, and then came back and started over.  Here's what I came up with for today's sketch design . . .

 

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

 

• Layerothology.  I chose a simple clean design today, with little details to make it elegant and fun.  This card is cut from Shimmery White cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  It has one overlaid layer of the same Shimmery White cardstock, cut 4" x 5 1/4", with a score line laid in around the outside edge, exactly 1/4" from the edge all the way around.

 

 

• Sneak Peak of Colors.  Today I "fussy cut" the beautiful rose spray from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set as the focal point of this card.  The blossoms were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink also on the Shimmery White cardstock; and then watercolored using the Blender Pens before I fussy cut them.  I did not put a color line-up on the blog for you today, because . . . . drum roll . . . . I used several of the brand new In Colors on this rose.  In fact, you will see Flirty Flamingo blended with Blushing Bride on the petals; and Emerald Envy has been used on the leaves.  The Shimmery White cardstock is perfect for beautiful blending like this, especially with that subtle shimmer coming through.  I did, however, have some fun with Wink of Stella on the rose once I was done to add lots of fun shimmer and glimmer to the image.

• A Good Greeting.  I "clipped" just the sentiment I wanted for today's design from the Good Greetings stamp set.  By stamping "my amazing mother" and then fussy-cutting just the part I wanted, I got the simple clean sentiment for this fun Mother's Day card design.

 

I hope you have enjoyed this card design today, meant especially for the upcoming Mother's Day holiday; yes indeed, that time is right around the corner.  I have not used this beautiful stamp set nearly enough; thankfully it is carrying forward into the new Annual Catalog in June, so we'll have plenty of time to play with it in the months to come.

Simply Simple Saturdays - Hoping for Some Quiet Time!!

Good Morning Fellow Stampers!!

I'm so glad it is the weekend?  How about you?  I need some peace and quiet!!  That is for sure!!  The idea of being able to just sit and read a book and sip a cup of tea would be pure heaven right now.  Something I have not done in a very long time.

 

We got the air conditioning installed yesterday; still a few issues to work out, but the crew and company I hired are absolutely FABULOUS!!!  I'd swear by them any day!  I almost have the house back in order; which I'd better hurry up and finish because the ladies are arriving this afternoon for a fun All Occasions Card class and I need to finish prepping for that too.

 

See what I mean about never having time to just sit and relax??  I saw this on Pinterest this morning --

 

 

I thought to myself, how true is that!!!

And doesn't that picture just invoke serenity and peace?

 

This is the first morning this Spring that I've had the windows cracked a little bit (it was pretty warm here yesterday), and I can hear the Spring birds singing away, and it is just peaceful and quiet. So now that I've paused a little bit this morning to just relax and enjoy -- and try to "hear", I'm off to the Studio to finish getting ready for this afternoon.
