Good Morning Fellow Stampers!
TGIF!!! Wouldn't you agree?? The early June "heat wave" has arrived -- yuck! I don't like it once it its about 88/89 degrees. And we have pushed into the 90's now. But I can tell you -- the brand new air conditioning is working beautifully!! LOL :-) I sincerely hope this is not an omen of things to come this Summer. The past several Summers have been very reminiscent of my youth, and just really beautiful around here!!
We've reached that time of the week!! It's Mojo Monday [MOJO451] challenge time. Last week I screwed up and paired up my Paper Players challenge this past Monday with the Global Design Team challenge. The problem is, the cut off for entering your design into the GDP challenge is somewhere in the wee hours of the morning, and I missed the cutoff to actually link up my design -- grrrrrrrrrr. So this week I'm going to pair up today's challenge with the GDP [GDP039] and make sure we don't miss the cutoff -- LOL
So I stepped outside my comfort zone today! I hope you will like what I did. I used a beautiful piece of one our brand new Specialty designer series papers; but for me, it feels like a "loud" and busy background. And yet the paper is so beautiful, it seems a shame not to use it! So I forced myself to try something I don't usually do, and I think the effect is cheerful and fun!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Crumb Cake cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".
Technique Tip: Did you know that there is a right and wrong side to your scored card base? The “bump” formed by the scoring tool goes toward the inside of your card. You’ll notice when you fold inward so the score bump is inside that you get a perfect professional-looking fold and card every single time!
- Affectionately Yours! Ahhhhh, the beautiful new Specialty Designer Series Paper known as Affectionately Yours with that beautiful Copper highlight glinting among the flowers. I love this paper!! So I just had to use it! What good will it do me in the package ?? LOL :-) This piece of DSP is matted with Daffodil Delight cardstock, creating a festive and fun "garden." What better gift to give a friend who is under the weather than flowers? And a whole card front of cheer?!! A garden of smiles all their very own!! I thought this would make such an incredible get-well card for someone!
- Flourish Thinlits. Remember those beautiful thinlits I showcased Yesterday? Well, I pulled them out to create a flurry of flowers for the upper left-hand corner of this card. These thinlits are so gorgeous!! Oh my! I cut leaves from Cucumber Crush, and various flowers from Watermelon Wonder, Flirty Flamingo, Mint Macaron, and Daffodil Delight, then layered them into place using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. The effect is a wonderful riot of flowers and color! The more I look at it, the more I love it!! :-) Did you notice the Cucumber Crush thick baker's twine bow? Yum!
- Love & Affection. The Love & Affection stamp set is such a sweet little set. This nice little sentiment comes from that set and is perfect to cheer someone up who is feeling under the weather! I stamped it with Versamark ink, and embossed it with the brand new Copper embossing powder! Perfect! I hand-snipped my "backwards" banner piece, just for fun, and for a more homespun feel! Not everything has to be "perfect" I am telling myself these days. Sometimes it just needs to be filled with love and your own special touch! Keep that in mind stampers :-) No matter how you craft, it is special in its own right! Don't you love all that Copper glinting back at you by the way?? Don't forget those pearl embellishments now! LOL
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed my "out of my comfort zone" design today. The wild riot of flowers just makes me feel to happy! And although it is not something I would normally create, I am really happy with how it turned out! I think I would love to receive this cheerful note if I was not feeling well, or in the hospital for some reason.
