Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Welcome Monday! Well, it was a whirlwind weekend as expected, and I'm not sure how much rest I got per se; I was going to post later in the day on Saturday all about our day at the Zoo -- what fun! But honestly, until we got home, got some late lunch, and I ran a few errands, including getting my nails done, I was just too exhausted for much else, and went straight to bed!! Ha ;-)
Sunday proved to be busy as I worked my way through a number of projects, and started planning for a long weekend trip to the Western Slope for the Fourth of July. There really is a lot going on around here. I'm planning on seeing my oral surgeon sometime this week before I leave as I just am not sure things are going very well; and I'm afraid to leave town without a consult and making sure we're on the same page with how I'm feeling.
In the meantime . . . It is time for the Paper Players [PP301] challenge this week. I pulled out some more new product and just had some fun yesterday :-) Let's take a look . . .
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Peekaboo Peach cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4". The featured designer series paper in today's design is from Playful Palette DSP Stack, and the background layer is matted with Emerald Envy, while the central banner is matted with Peekaboo Peach.
- Sunshine Wishes. If you haven't taken a look yet at the new Sunshine Wishes stamp set, and coordinating dies, you are missing out! This was one of the items on My Favorite Things list the other week. And now that I've really had a chance to sit down and play, I love it even more. This card actually has absolutely no stamping on it! It was totally created with framelits and thinlit dies. I used the Banners framelits to create the banners in the background; and the beautiful Sunshine Wishes Thinlets dies to create both the focal point and the sentiment. If you look closely, I created the flower by cutting the flower 3 times -- once in Emerald Envy, so I could get the stem and "leaves" (which I created by cutting the flower apart); once in Sweet Sugarplum, and once in Flirty Flamingo, then cutting off the stems and layering the flower portion. I also cut a cute little butterfly in Peekaboo Peach. Peekaboo Peach ruched ribbon and Pearls finish off this fabulous centerpiece. The sentiment is also from the die set and is cut in Emerald Envy. I just love how this turned out.
Now I haven't been too sure about combining what I consider to be "busy" patterns of designer paper. In fact, after this card design was long done, and I had moved on to other things in my busy day, I was pondering it in my head and wondering if I should have foregone the mixing of the two patterns. In the end, I left it all alone; so I'd love to hear what you think about it. Do you think it works? Or would you have used an embossing folder in the background instead; and left the pattern for the banners only? Let me know what you think -- I love your feedback :-)
Well, it's off to a busy Monday. Everyone have a fabulous day; and we'll chat tomorrow when we round up the promotions and goings on over at Stampin' Up! :-)
Until Next Time . . .
