Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
Happy Monday! Well, I had a short and busy weekend, filled with Birthday festivities. Unfortunately, being away from home so much does not help me get through the long list of "to do's" I have right now. So I guess it will be a busy week trying to play catch up! How about all of you? Did everyone stay busy this 2nd week of June?
It's Paper Players [PP299] challenge time. This week's challenge is a "color" challenge -- and one that feels quite patriotic; and using one of our new In Colors which I absolutely loved!!
This color combination, when put together in real life, felt very Americana to me. I absolutely loved it!! In many ways, much more than Night of Navy and say Real Red, which is a combination I have used many times during the Fourth of July holidays. I think you'll see me using today's color combination a lot as we approach July this year!! :)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Dapper Denim cardstock, 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2", a top fold vertical card. The background layers are Whisper White with an overlay from the 2015-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, with a selection from the Dapper Denim section. I thought the dots felt fun without going too over the top! I wasn't quite ready for a full-fledged Patriotic card yet :-) The side vertical "stripe" is created with a 1-1/2" by 5 1/4" Whisper White strip, overlaid with a Cherry Cobbler cutout using the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits. Fabulous ?!
- Layers of Love. I chose today's sentiment after kind of going through practically every new stamp set that I have had arrive here at the house in the past several weeks - LOL. I knew I didn't want anything too patriotic just yet; but a blatant birthday, or celebration didn't seem to jump out at me either. This wonderful new set, Layering Love, seemed to hit me just right. When I was trying to decide how to "cut it out" I tried a couple of different options, but somehow settled on the Stars framelits. If you use the framelit that's 2nd in from the outside edge, you can just perfectly cut this sentiment out; but you have to arrange it just right. I added an "offset" in Cherry Cobbler of the same size, and after adhering the two together, popped them up with dimensionals on the card front. I then added some Silver Glimmer stars created with the Confetti Stars punch as well as several with the star out of the now retired Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (one of those sets you hang onto because I use it like ALL the time).
This turned out really cute, don't you think?? :-)
I'm going to keep this short and sweet today. I'd love to read what you think of today's card design, and to hear how all your weekends went! I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday. By the way, Geri S. is the proud recipient of my Father's Day card design which I posted last Week. That will be dropped in the mail to her shortly!
