Thursday Change-Up - A Fox of a Day!

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers!

Well, we're roaring right through this week.  I have to say yesterday eclipsed the "busy level" at work; what a crazy day!!  And I didn't get home until late -- and it just messed up my whole evening.  But on the bright side, it was cloudy and cool, and I was quite thankful for that. 

 

Today is the day of the week when I just play with whatever I want and share it with you.  A couple of weeks ago, I started a new little series called CASEing the Catty.  Because I love so much in this new catalog, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted to do for today's post; but I settled on that adorable Foxy Friends stamp set, and coordinating Fox Builder Punch.  I just adore this cute little set.  So this is my first time sitting down to play; but boy am I going to be back just to make all kinds of cute critters!!  I picked one of the card designs on page 56 of the catalog :

 

 

So, are you ready for my CASE of this cute little card and critter?  ;-)

 

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card base is cut from Calypso Coral cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4".  A full background layer of Whisper White is laid behind the cute central layers - a piece of DSP from the A Little Foxy DSP Stack, matted with Smoky Slate and Pool Party.  This is significantly ore layering than the catalog card; but I'm a layer girl ;)  I prefer lots of color and layers to my cards.  The layers are "tied together" with a nice piece of 1/8" Smoky Slate Stitched Ribbon before being adhered to the card front.  The double bow is actually added last after all the other detail.

• Foxy Friends.  Now I have to say, I hope you have given this bundle a closer look, because it really is just so cute.  This cute little guy, is hiding in the backyard somewhere I'm sure.  He is stamped with some of the cute images from the stamp set in Calypso Coral ink; and he is punched, and layered with some of the punch pieces as well.  That's the fun of this adorable set!  You could create most of the critter (fox) just with the punch if you wanted to.  He's a cutie pie, don't you think?  Did you realize that the trees in this set coordinate with our Perfect Pine framelits from last year's Holiday Occasions catalog which carried forward into this Annual?  I created the extra texture on this fun tree with one of the thinlits in that set.

 

 

• Thoughtful Banners.  I chose to create the sentiment for this card with the new Thoughtful Banners stamp set, and the coordinated Duet Banner Punch.  It is so simple and fun; I even matted the banner with the other banner shape in the punch using Smoky Slate cardstock.  I think this little sentiment would be good for most any occasion, and makes this card versatile.  Fox and sentiment are popped up with dimensionals.

Ask Wendy Wednesdays - the New Stampin' Up! Big Shot

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers!

Happy Wednesday!  What a week -- which I knew before it started, but it even so, it's pretty nuts.  We have a great big event at work later this week, and I'm the lead for the planning team and getting all the logistics in place.  I have 1100 people arriving for this event on Friday afternoon. So yes, I can honestly say we're swamped, and I'm tired!! :)

 

Nevertheless, I would never let you all down, that follow me so faithfully here on the internet.  I have been planning today's video for a couple of weeks, so I'm very excited to bring you today a short video on the brand new Big Shot, and more specifically the brand new Big Shot Platform.  I assure you, you are really going to love this!  So I hope you'll take some time to join me today.  I don't think people realize that we have a brand new product here, and just exactly what it's all about.  So I hope this helps.

Celebration!

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

Happy Monday.  The beginning of what I can tell you will be a hectic and very busy week.  I also appear to have had a setback on my oral surgery.  Not really sure what's going on just yet, but the whole right side of my face was swollen up when I got up yesterday morning; and it hasn't been like that since the week of surgery.  The stitches came out last Friday morning; but I tried to tell the surgeon that my neck and how I've been feeling indicates things aren't going well, and he didn't seem to put much stock what I had to say.  I would say, things are going downhill quickly, so I'm not sure what to do now.  I'll have to make some phone call this morning.

At any rate, I spent a fair amount of time on other projects yesterday; but did find time to design my Pape

r Players [PP300] challenge card for this week.  This is a very special week at The Paper Players -- their 300th challenge.  This is a huge occasion with lots of celebrating to go with it -- and so this week's challenge . . .

 

A CAS "Celebration" card -- and this little idea set me to thinking; I mean 4th of July is right around the corner, and indeed fireworks are the highlight of our 4th celebration!

I love watching fireworks against a clear night sky -- especially the "finale" when they start shooting them all off fast and furious!!

So how could I create my own fireworks at night creation?  Let's see what you think :-)

 

In keeping with this CAS challenge, there are no layers to this card at all.  This card is cut from Night of Navy cardstock (my night sky), 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2".

 

Wondering about that glittery silver speckling in the background?  Well, that's actually my Clear Wink of Stella pen.  I carefully squeezed some extra fluid and glitter out onto the brush tip, and then flicked and shook it over my cardstock.  It make large and teeny tiny small dots all over the place; actually a nice variety of sizes.  It looks like stars twinkling in the distance :-)

 

I then pulled out those fabulous new Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, and an assortment of patriotic colors (Dapper Denim, Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White), and started cutting away!

I laid my pieces down with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen, and then added Rhinestones of various sizes all over to help give the sparkle effect of the fireworks.

I love this result!!  It's so cool!

 

The sentiment is from the Confetti Celebration stamp set, stamped in Craft Whisper White ink.

Simply Simple Saturdays - A Garden, A Party, and Some Fun!

 

 

 

 

 Happy Saturday Fellow Stampers -

Well, we have rushed right into the weekend!  It has been an extraordinarily busy week for me, what with overtime at work, trying to keep up with everything around here, and just being exhausted by 8 or 9 o'clock at night.  Once I get through everything I've got going today, I'm putting my feet up and taking a nap :-) 

 

I've been busily working on the first Product Shares - I have just finished cutting, separating and packaging up the first batch --  Whew!  Lots of work.  But oh so pretty!!!  

 

Look at all those pretty embellishments getting separated out on each stack :-)  Love it!!!

 

The first single shares have gone out in the mail; now I'm down to cutting and wrapping ribbon for the I Want It All shares -- and hope to have that all done by early this next week.  It's going to be busy all weekend I think!!  I think I'm through the worst of it though.  And things will slow a little bit for me for the remainder of the weekend.

 

 

 

I think I've finally got the garden mostly in and settled for the Summer ahead.  A garden always needs attention, and I just deadheaded the Peonies, and the first round of blooms on the rose bushes.  The Impatience just got planted along the south fence, and it's starting to look real pretty inside my little area :-) 

 

I have some planters and containers to get done yet, but I think I can putter through that over the next several days.  We are so incredibly hot all of a sudden; and every thing just wants to wilt on me.  So I'm having to do lots of watering -- and figure out how to blow some cool air -- LOL :-)

 

 

 

 

But today is really all about a very special group of customers.  Today is my semi-annual Customer Appreciation event, when I pamper my very best customers a little bit, we have a special meal together, and we play!  This is an invitation only event, and these gals meet a special criteria.  They are the top of my group, support me, and I appreciate them more than they know!  Several of them are even in my downline.  So I'm really looking forward to this time with them today.

 

I have very special party favors for each attendee; and their "place card setting" is attached to a cute cellophane bag of jelly beans!  Adorable! :-)

I also did a door prize for each attendee; after quizzing them to see how much they've been paying attention to the blog and their new catalogs the past several weeks; not so good just FYI -- LOL :-)

But each attendee got a brand new product from the new catalog, or a gift certificate from me for an item of their choice from the new catalog, or the soon upcoming Holiday Occasions (yes, you read that right!!).

 

What fun!

One of my attendees today didn't show; and didn't respond when we called and texted her.  So we're all hoping she's alright.  She was missed!!

Chilled Strawberry Soup

Artisan Whole Grain Bread

Raspberry Sherbet Party Punch

and of course,

Ice Cream Cake for dessert ;-)

 

 

I thought you'd enjoy one of the recipes I served at my "summer luncheon" today.  So enjoy -- and have a fabulous rest of your weekend friends!

 

Chilled Strawberry Soup

Ingredients:

1 c. apple juice

1 c. water (divided)

2/3 c. sugar

1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/8 tsp ground cloves

2 c. fresh strawberries

2 cartons (8 oz. each) strawberry yogurt

 

How to make:

In a saucepan, combine the apple juice, 3/4 cup water, sugar, cinnamon, and cloves; bring to a boil over medium heat.

Remove from heat and let cool.

Place strawberries and 1/4 cup water in a blender or food processor; cover and process until smooth.

Pour into a large bowl.

Add apple juice mixture and yogurt, mixing together well.

Cover and refrigerate until well chilled.

Spoon into lovely custard bowls, garnish with additional strawberry halves, raspberries, and a sprig of mint.

Serve and Enjoy!
