Good Morning Fellow Stampers -
TGIF!! Today will be a busy day; I'm heading to the Oral Surgeon early this morning, and if all goes well, the stitches hopefully come out today. However, I am still struggling with a fair amount of pain and discomfort with this implant. So I'm thinking it is going to be awhile before I'm feeling 100% okay again. Hoping this doesn't last all Summer!
It's been pretty warm here this week; and now we have smoke and haze floating into the state from some wildfires in New Mexico. Pretty strange to see our beautiful blue skies hazed over; and to smell smoke on the air. Makes you just a little uncomfortable. And we are definitely hot enough and dry enough right now, that we could get some of those wildfires started here. So here's crossing our fingers that doesn't happen!!
It's Mojo Monday [MOJO452] challenge time. I have to say, that for the first time in a very long time I really disliked today's sketch. It just did not speak to me at all. It felt boxy, and strange, and very uninspired. But I forced myself to just sit down, pick a stamp set and just play for awhile. So I'm going to be curious to see what you think of this. It's different that's for sure. Maybe sometimes it's good to do something different and just play around to see what happens.
Okay, so I picked up all the pieces from the Affectionately Yours Suite, and kind of just threw this together to see what would happen -- the Affectionately Yours DSP, Love & Affection Stamp Set, and the Affectionately Yours designer washi tape. I pulled in a doily from the 2015-2017 In Color Doilies collection; and I played with Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush, and Daffodil Delight against Crumb Cake cardstock base, which are the colors in the Affectionately Yours DSP. They are bright and nice colors, kept muted with the neutral of the Crumb Cake.
So what do you think? Is this just too strange? I played with several of the different images from the stamp set and created a circular pattern, centered with a metal-rimmed pearl. I put a piece of the designer washi tape down the right hand side tying the layers together with the doily so it would seem more cohesive. The Duet Banner Punch worked well with this sentiment; and what is nice about the photopolymer stamp set is I can work with the stamp a little bit and curve it so it will just fit inside the punched area.
So tell me what you think. Is it just wierd? Not very exciting? Is it something you would do with a card design? I'd love to read your thoughts. Sometimes I think just playing around we can stumble on a "happy accident.? I didn't feel that way necessarily about this design; but it seems okay!
Hoping you have a fabulous Friday and an even better weekend!
Until Next Time . . .
