Good Morning Fellow Stampers !!
Whooo Hooooo for the loooooooong holiday weekend :-) I'm heading off early this morning, Miss Sadie Ann and I, for the Western Slope of Colorado, and the peace and quiet of my best friends sheep ranch. For Miss Sadie, this will be "going home" for a "family reunion" with her mom and siblings. For me, it's a wonderful time spent with my "adopted family" and a place I love -- sitting and taking in the beauty of the San Juans; visiting friends all over the Montrose and Ouray Counties, and just having a nice time away.
But don't worry -- you'll be hearing from me before you know it ~~ ;) Including today! Especially since it is Mojo Monday [MOJO454] challenge time! And boy, I changed things up today!! So watch out!! LOL :) Let's take a look at today's Mojo sketch, and let me show you how I "took liberties" with today's sketch to create a simple and easy card that really packs a punch!!
So, do you see what I did ?? LOL I have turned this sketch on it's side, took the "center" forefront layer, enlarged it and moved it "behind" the circular element; then changed out the "banner" for ribbon, with a banner "tail" in a different position, and off we go!! How about that??
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Crushed Curry cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored a 4 1/4", with the fold to the top! I chose the Fruit Stand DSP as my background focal point -- I just love this paper -- and matted it with Watermelon Wonder cardstock. Notice how I "offset" the DSP to the cardstock behind it for "interest" ?? This really changes up this look!
- Watercolor Words. Amongst all the beautiful and wonderful new things in this catalog, are still some wonderful products that have been here are year or two already. You don't want to overlook these products!! Watercolor Words was introduced to us in last year's Annual, and I just love these large elements, and the fonts to this set. Want to know how I got this sentiment to look embossed? That's because it is!! Did you know that if you are "quick" you can get away with embossing our regular classic stampin' ink? By quick, I mean have your embossing powder immediately at hand so that you can "stamp" then immediately coat your image with the embossing powder of choice. Here I stamped in Crushed Curry and immediately put clear embossing powder over the inked image. I made sure that I was quick about getting that embossing powder right on the stamped sentiment; and it worked perfectly! The ink was still wet enough to grab the powder; and then I just used my heat tool as normal. It's beautiful!!
- Layering Circles. If you haven't checked out our new layering framelit sets yet, you are missing out!! This design today uses the brand new Layering Circles. I combined a plain circle with a beautiful scallop edged circle just peaking out behind it!! Fabulous!!
- Embellishments. The new Burlap Ribbon is incredible! I like it better than the old I think. I like the little bit "wider" spread between the threads. In fact, I took my "tails" and actually cut with my Paper Snips up each section to just loosen it up and "fray" them out a little bit. My button is a retired item. I have a big jar full of retired Stampin' Up! buttons, and I do so love my stash!! Great when you just want something to spruce up quickly. A little Linen Thread finishes that piece off. I took some retired Black Candy Dots and filled in the centers of various flowers in the DSP design to help them "pop". It really looks cool in real life!
Wow! That's a lot of words for what was really a simple and easy card to put together. I had a lot of fun with this one! I was inspired by a design I saw on Pinterest. But as always, I love adding my own little touches.
Hope you have enjoyed this today :-) I hope you have a fabulous weekend and enjoy time with friends and family!! Miss Sadie and I will check in with you all later!!! Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
