Good Morning Fellow Stampers!
Whew! Well, that was one fast weekend; and I don't think I even scratched the surface of everything I wanted to get done. On top of everything else, I accidentally made Miss Sadie Ann sick yesterday :-( I gave here some peanut butter that had gone bad, and had no idea. So I had a big mess to clean up; and the comforter on the bed as to go to the dry cleaners this week -- grrrrrrr. Nothing like when the "kids" throw up, is all I can say!! :-)
It's Paper Players [PP317] challenge time. This week's challenge is a CAS (clean and simple) challenge centered around a leaf theme. Some of you know that I follow My Favorite Things (and their blog postings from Paper Pursuits) fairly closely. I do buy some products from My Favorite Things; but certainly not anywhere in the same arena as I purchase Stampin' Up! products. It's more of a dabble once in a while kind of thing. But I do like to see what their designers do with card designs; and I really love to take something from their designers that inspires me, and recreate it with Stampin' Up! products. Today's design is one of those. It's a CASE of a design I saw a couple weeks back, but it's totally with Stampin' Up! products ~~ and just proves once again, that we have some beautiful products that rival anything that the other companies have out there. Let's take a peak ;-)
Today's Color Combination:
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. The nice thing about this card design, and many CAS designs in general, is there literally is no layering to this card at all. The only element added to the Very Vanilla cardbase (4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" - a top fold vertical card), is the 3/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Petals & Paisleys SDSP down the right side of the card front. The rest of the elements "top" this piece making it the "background" element, and also pulls your eye to the right and keeps you centered on the sentiment pieces.
- Leaves, Copper, and Lettering. The rest of this card is all about the various elements pulled together as the focal points. First, I cut the sentiment from the Hello You Thinlits in Copper, and then two pieces of Very Vanilla cardstock, that I then layered together using my Fine Tip Glue Pen so that I could get some thickness and depth to the piece. The sentiment is actually "thanks" but I cut the "s" off for my purposes today. The Soft Suede 1/2" x 4 1/4" piece of cardstock was stamped with the "You" from the Crazy About You stamp set first in Craft Whisper White ink, and then embossed with White embossing powder to really pop the effect. The two pieces layered together really look lovely. And the Copper foil is just so fabulous against this card background.
The leaves are cut using the Leaflets Framelits from Old Olive, Cajun Craze, and Crumb Cake cardstocks, and then sponged with Soft Suede to antique and soften the look; I also put a score line down the middle of each leaf, before using glue dots to layer them together, and then tie them with pieces cut from Burlap Ribbon at their stems. The piece is popped with dimensionals on the card front. A final touch is made with Regal and Brights Enamel Shapes to finish off this CAS card.
Do you love the effect of this card as much as I do ??
The little details make the card -- but the "clean" simplicity really makes it pop!!
