Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)
TGIF!! Thank goodness is all I can say! It's a working Friday for me, so it won't be done soon enough as far as I'm concerned. I have a little good news to share with everyone. I met with my Oral Surgeon Wednesday afternoon, and we took a scan of my sinus areas. The infection is gone!! Hallelujah! So I meet with the ENT doctor today; but it's pretty much a moot point. I will not need to have sinus surgery and I'm very thankful for that. Especially as I have several more surgeries to face with this implant itself (the next one we have to rebuild the bone in the jaw); so for now I will be able to rest and heal; and then we'll plan the appropriate time to move forward with the next phase. I am quite relieved today!!
It's Mojo Monday [MOJO469] challenge time. Another lovely sketch to play with. Today I decided I really wanted to play with some beautiful products from our Annual catalog, and turn to more of a Fall theme. I'm starting to feel the twinges of the "holiday" season calling to me; so I am starting to get antsy about trying out some of our new holiday bundles, and may start that direction soon. In the meantime, I had some fun with this card design today, and I hope you will enjoy it.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" - a side-fold card. The background layers showcase the Petals & Paisleys SDSP matted with Soft Suede cardstock, which is wrapped with Delightful Dijon grosgrain ribbon from the 3/8" ribbon trio from the Paisleys & Posies suite.
- Best Birds Meet Vintage Leaves. I was thinking about our change throughout the Fall season here in Colorado as I designed this card. The leaves here in town have turned significantly over this past week; and with a cold front through yesterday, we're starting to get quite a bit of leaf drop from the trees now. The other change that is significant this time of year is that the songbirds are heading south, and those that remain and the smaller, and somewhat plainer "mountain" birds (I call them) that stay through the Winter season. They tend to have more muted neutral brown colorings and seem to blend with our change of season. They like to come to my birdfeeder and eat all Winter long :-) These little guys were cut with the Birds & Blooms Thinlits (a set I have not used nearly enough yet!), and the sentiment I chose for today's card is from the Best Birds stamp set. I brought out my absolute favorite stamp and framelit set -- Vintage Leaves & Leaflets Framelits. I actually stamped these leaves on Sahara Sand cardstock and gives them a very different look - less brilliant, which goes with the muted tones I was seeking for this card design.
The layering of the leaves with the various designer paper and cardstock layers create a really nice feel to this card.
Some of the details to this design include sponging of Soft Suede ink on the belly of my biggest bird, and around the edges of the sentiment piece, my requisite pearls of course :-) and a nice little bow laid over the leaf layering. I also pulled apart a piece of Burlap ribbon to create the bow for the upper leaves.
I hope you have enjoyed today's card design; I'd love to hear what you think. Are you enjoying the Fall season? Do you make Fall cards? Or do you jump right into Holiday cards and projects? We were talking here this week that we dislike how the stores seem to jump right over Halloween and Thanksgiving anymore and straight to Christmas. It just seems like we don't enjoy the progression anymore. Well, I have alot I hope to get done this weekend; we'll see how it goes! The weather is supposed to be quite nice; kind of the last hurrah of Summer I think. But I'm going to start to put the garden to bed this weekend I think.
Happy crafting everyone!! Have a wonderful weekend!
Until Next Time . . .
