Howdy Fellow Stampers -
Happy Sunday -- yes, I know, a rather unusual Sunday post!! But then you may have noticed that somehow Friday got skipped - ;) Not totally skipped - more like delayed. I had an HOA meeting Thursday evening after work - for which I am the Board President (don't ask - LOL); and I've been tired the end of this week. So even though I came home and tried real hard to get things rolling in the Studio, I gave up about a half hour after I got home and called it a night. And Friday was a working Friday, and by the time I got home I was just too exhausted from the week to do much. So this card design has been sitting on the Studio table a couple of days now.
So I'm bringing you this week's Mojo Monday [MOJO471] challenge rather late, but I did not want to miss it. I had thought I knew what I wanted to do with this card design; but as is often the case, when you sleep on something a night or two or three . . . well, something different can happen. So, the color scheme and cardstock paper choices stayed the same; but my original plan for a Fall card went out the window, and in it's place is a "different" kind of Holiday / Christmas card ;-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Soft Suede cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" - a standard side-fold A2 card. This card combines an unusual color combination with a "pop" of Copper to make the whole thing just shimmer. I also included a fair amount of "vintage" to this design including distressing the edges of my Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Paper and sponging my edges with Soft Suede ink.
- Circles, Squares & Snowflakes, Oh My! I think we tend to lose sight of the lovely holiday stamps, dies and papers that are in the Annual Catalog - and primarily the products that were carried forward from last year's Holiday Occasions catalog. I chose to pull out the beautiful Flurry of Wishes stamp set for this card design today, and the coordinating Snow Flurry Punch. Did you grab this bundle last year? Well, don't waste it; pull it out and play!! Another piece of beautiful paper from the Petals & Paisleys SDSP is cut and layered with the Layering Circles Framelits, as well as sponged with Soft Suede ink. The sentiment from the stamp set is stamped in Mint Macaron to coordinate with the paper, cut and framed with Copper foil using the Layering Squares Framelits. Those cute little snowflakes are stamped in Mint Macaron ink, edged with Soft Suede ink using a rock-n-roll technique, easily punched out with the Snow Flurry Punch, and popped with dimensionals, finished off with a single lovely pearl in the center
The luscious Mint Macaron ribbon is from the 3/8" Petals & Paisleys grosgrain ribbon trio pack. I love this ribbon!! It's stapled with our recently discontinued Handheld Stapler. Hope you have one in your inventory; it's a must have tool!
I started this card design on Thursday evening thinking was I was going to create beautiful mint macaron and soft suede Autumn leaves.
Somehow I ended up with snowflakes and a lovely soft Christmas card that I just know any of your recipients would love to receive!
So pull out that stamp set and punch that I know you snapped last year, and start playing!! Create something that is "out of the norm" for a holiday card. I know you'll love the results!
