Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)
It's that Wednesday of the month and I welcome you to the Pals Blog Hop for October 2016. Thanks so much for stopping by today to play with us and our 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month our projects feature cards made using “wicked” folds. What is a “wicked” fold? It is anything other than the standard A2 card fold. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations. And of course, a little "wickedness" has to include a Halloween theme for this wonderful month of October ;-) LOL What fun we are going to have today . . .
You may just be starting the Blog Hop or you may have arrived here from Sherrie Gross' Stampin' Sunshine blog. Don't worry about getting "lost" ;-) You can follow along on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.
Today I'm bringing you a "wickedly" fun and spooky Z-Box Fold card. I talked a little bit about Z-fold cards on my Blog Post just a couple weeks ago. This Z-fold is a little bit more complicated, but not a lot; and just so much fun! I can see an electric tealight sitting in the "box" of the fold -- how fun would that be?? ;-) So we'll have a little tutorial with measurements and so forth next week; come back and visit me then ;-)
The "starry" background for this spooky scene comes from the Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper. The scatter silver dots on this paper are perfect for this effect. I matted these pieces with some retired Brushed Silver Cardstock from my precious stash I keep -- LOL. And even more fun, I overlaid Rhinestones in various dots across the background of the DSP. You should see this card sparkle in the light -- especially fun in candle light :-)
The house scene on the inside fold is also from the Halloween Night Specialty DSP. I fussy cut the scene leaving a little "gray" around the different elements which gives it a fabulous effect against my "night sky."
The main back flap is the main part of my little Halloween night scene -- the moon was punched from Shimmery White cardstock with a 1-3/4" Circle Punch and sponged using sponge daubers and a combination of Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and careful smudging of a little bit of Smoky Slate inks for a realistic feel to a Halloween Night moon.
The rest of the pieces and parts are so easy to pull together using the Halloween Scenes Edglits - a fabulous die set you don't want to miss out on!!
I did fussy cut the ghosts in the graveyard as they don't have a die to cut them out!
The front edge is Early Espresso embossed with the Seaside TIEF and overlaid with the cute little fence cut from Basic Gray cardstock. It's a an easy way to create the illusion of "ground" against the night sky.
A little closer view "folded"
And a closeup spread open.
What's nice about a project like this is it really is more than just a nice card -- it ends up being a piece of decor for someone's mantle or shelf.
I really love this - what about you?
