Well Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
We're slowly working our way back into a little bit of a rhythm around here. And with this wonderful time off this week, also working through some cleaning up, organizing, and preparing for a new year, a new catalog, and a new quarter of fun!! I sure hope you are all ready to play with me :-)
I promised you last week some fun New Year's designs this week; I had a few ideas I wanted to play with and share with you and today I bring you one of those :-) I'm trying to get re-organized and straightened up in the studio this week, so I can be all ready for next week's new catalog and products (some of which are arriving at my front door later this week ;-)
This fun little duo (have you forgotten about that Curvy Keepsake Box we love so much?), are Pinterest inspired!
I've been waiting to use the It's A Celebration and Frosted Medallions stamp sets, and am just in love with these projects and how they turned out!! :-)
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card is cut from Basic Black cardstock, 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4" - a top fold horizontal A2 card. It sports a matted layer of Gold foil behind another piece of Basic Black cardstock. Sweet and simple :-) The Curvy Keepsake Box is also cut from Basic Black Cardstock.
- Created Backgrounds. This fun card background is totally self-created using the stamp images from the It's a Celebration stamp set. It's easy to do this, you just have to have a little patience. That is because you need to do this in "layers". You stamp the images that you want in Gold embossing powder, then the ones you want in Silver embossing powder; you also stamp the different sizes and images one at a time as well. In other words . . . I stamped the largest image first, 3 times, then embossed those in Gold; I stamped it again several times, and embossed those in Silver; then I moved to one of the smaller images and repeated the process. I probably embossed about 5 or so times on this card until I had it completed the way I wanted. The layers are wrapped with a piece of 3/8" Silver Metallic Glitter ribbon from the Glitter Duo before being adhered to the front of the card.
- It's All In the Numbers. It's amazing to see this number on the front of this card; I can hardly believe it is 2017!! Wasn't just 1985?? LOL These are so easy to cut out with our Large Number Framelits, and really pop in Gold Foil (popped up with dimensionals). I used the fabulous sentiment from the stamp set, Versamarked on Vellum, and embossed in Gold embossing powder, the ends punched with the Banner Triple Punch. I used the retired Star punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack to punch myself a few stars, and then I added Rhinestones across the card front from some extra sparkle and shine! Pretty fun, don't you think?? ;-)
- Turn to the Inside. The inside of this card emulates the outside just a little bit (with some more gold embossing). The sentiment is snagged from the Frosted Medallions stamp set, and is stamped in Encore Gold Metallic ink (retired). I also framed (matted) the inside in Gold Foil. I love the elegance and pop of the Gold and Black combination.
The Curvy Keepsake Box emulates the card with the same stamping an embossing!
What a perfect duo for your New Year's hostess, don't you think??
And now I have a horrible story to tell ~ I made a terrible discovery last night that has just made me sick!! I had a totally different tag planned for this box; namely I wanted to use the cute scalloped tag from the Cheerful Tags Framelits die set. But when I opened the stamp case, the die wasn't there. I was shocked!!! I did some looking, and some thinking, and I'm pretty certain of what happened. Several weeks ago, as we started the Year-End Clearance Sale, and we were told what would be carrying forward from the Holiday Catalog and what wouldn't be, I combined all the coordinated dies with their stamp sets (moved the magnetic sheets into the matching stamp set case). I do this with my holiday stamps only. However, because of the size of these tag framelits, they overlapped each other just a little bit on the magnetic sheet, and I'm pretty sure that what happened is that one didn't stick and got left behind in the plastic casing they were originally lodged in and I didn't notice; and guess what! Those cases were all thrown away!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr . . . . Which means I basically just ruined a set of framelits and have to buy a new set!! Grrrrrrrrrrr !!! Sooooooo -- I have a set of Cheerful Tags Framelits Dies for sale at a greatly reduced price (just missing one folding tag framelit die) if anyone is interested :-) Seriously!! I have to order a new set at the end of the week.
Wishing you a great Wednesday!! Until Next Time . . .
