Hello Fellow Stampers :-)
I suppose you are all wondering where I've been hiding!! Well, the past 4 to 5 days have been really crazy nuts!! It really all begin earlier last week as I was struggling to tie things up out at work to go on vacation/holiday break; and knew as the week was coming to an end that it just wasn't going to happen. On Thursday afternoon we flew in a rush and flurry to the Company Holiday Party; and Friday morning was my next oral surgery appointment -- this one a real doozy!! And I didn't have the designs and everything done I wanted for the Friday blog post.
I knew by the time we got home around 11:30 Thursday night that there was no way I was going to get time in the studio and everything done before we had to be on the road at 9 am the next morning for the doctor's office. So a part of me thought, that's ok, I'll just do it later in the day after I've had time to recover, etc. Hahahaha ~~ I am a funny girl! This surgery was really difficult and the general anesthesia really took a toll this time. I slept and slept and slept coming back from this surgery on Friday afternoon; and so really lost the entire day on Friday. And Saturday too!! Although I thought I'd be able to putter through a number of projects on Saturday, I just wasn't feeling that well, and tired so easily that I'd do a few things and then have to sit down and rest. I did go out to Kohl's for a little bit in the afternoon (after our snowstorm had passed and the sun was shining a little), because I was feeling so cooped up, but that really exhausted me and I slept the rest of the evening after I got home. So now I'm to Sunday, and although I am feeling much better, now I'm playing catch-up!! Yikes! And I had already decided last week that despite my plans to "officially be on holiday break" as of Friday, December 16th, I was going to have to go into work on Monday the 19th whether I liked it or not -- there is just too much to do and with being out of the office for 15 days, it doesn't bode well for kicking off the new year. So, now I've officially lost the first 4 days of my break, and I am massively behind!!! I did get the Christmas letter written on Sunday morning, so I'm hoping to get that out the door in the next 24 hours. But the blog and my visits with you have suffered immensely and I feel very badly about all that!
What with baking, sewing, creating, packaging, etc., etc., etc. The next 4 1/2 days are going to be fairly nuts and I'm going to have to really stay focused. But I promise, I have some special things I want to share with you yet before we close out Christmas and head to the New Year, and I will do my best to carve out time to visit with you and keep you up-to-date as to the going's on around here!!
As for me -- I am improving, and will survive this surgery I'm sure. Once the restructure of the bone in the jaw heals, we will once again re-visit the implant process and hope that this next year goes much better than 2016 did :-)
Now you may be surprised to learn that I have been wanting to make this particular card for like almost 2 months now. But I've just never had the chance. I did NOT want this holiday season to pass without the chance to create this "sweet" little scene; made all the easier because it uses the adorable designer paper from the Candy Cane Lane DSP collection. A little fussy cutting of the cute houses right out of the paper, and another piece as the background, and you really are set to go with this wonderful simple and fun card design.
Cut from Crumb Cake cardstock, this card has a couple of items in it that are non-Stampin' Up! (it's always fun to use some other bling and accessories). I cut my "snow field" using a die from PaperTrey Ink, and there are some pearls hidden in here from Michael's! Don't ever feel bad to snap up those things you love when you see them elsewhere. The roofs on these houses are glittered with the Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Make it easy peasy everyone! Use your 2-Way Glue Pen (get one from Michael's; just because we don't sell it anymore doesn't mean it isn't out there!), and shake your glitter on. It's so easy to make this effect. I used up the last of my 3/8" Cherry Cobbler Silky Taffeta ribbon on this project today (sigh) and made a fabulous double bow to offset the Lots of Labels framelits tag; the cute candies are stamped with the Candy Cane Christmas stamp set, and cut out with the smallest circle in the retired Circles Collection framelits (turns out I needed a 3/8" circle to fit around those and we don't have a punch that size). The smallest circle in that collection is perfect for these :-)
Everyone, this card is simple to make, a great way to use up some of your leftover supplies from this wonderful holiday catalog, and has a fabulous "wow" factor to it with all the little details!
And I made a set of easy matching tags to go with the card -- fabulous!
Use the 1/4" Circle Handleheld punch to make your hole in the tags to pull the ribbon through; and add a metal-rimmed pearl to finish them off just so!! :-)
They are sooooo easy! I mixed Real Red and Cherry Cobbler here!
Now isn't that fun??!! :-)
I really hope you have enjoyed this quick visit with you! Being we're in the holiday season I'll be in and out but hope to bring you some other fun yet this week; some neat last minute ideas; and maybe even a good family recipe for a last minute baking session! Remember, I'm only an email away if you have any questions or need anything.
Hugs everyone!
Until Next Time . . .
