POPULARITY BREEDS SCARCITY!  I reported to you all last week that the Watercolor Pencils [Item #141709] were so popular that they exceeded forecasting and went into backorder.  The pencils are currently in "not-orderable" status.  But the good news is that we won't have to wait very long for them to be back in stock.  Right now SU! is estimating that a very large order they placed is due in February 13th.  So everyone, cross your fingers . . .  and hopefully we'll have these wonderful pencils back in stock and available very soon!!

However, the Watercolor Pencils are not the only products Backordered at the moment.  In the past week, two more products have gotten hit by the "Popularity Bug"!!  The Love Notes Framelits Dies [Item #142752] and the Mini Egg Cartons [Item #142776] have both exceeded forecasting and have fallen into Backorder.  Unfortunately, the Love Notes Framelits will not be back in stock until AFTER Valentine's Day; so if you have this item on an order and it impacts your Valentine making plans, please contact me to discuss solutions.  Additionally, the Mini Egg Cartons will go into "non-orderable" status tomorrow at Noon MST to keep from going further into backorder and the cost that goes with that.  A shipment is being air-expedited and should be here by March 27th (in time for Easter fun!)

A Little Chick Chick Chick for the Paper Players

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

Happy Monday.  Here we are kicking off another week; the end of January and a mad-dash into February!  Pretty crazy, huh?  Kind of like my weekend was :-)  I had a good weekend though; even got a new faucet installed in the kitchen!!  I'm liking that pretty much :)  Been needing to do that for awhile now.  So now I need to get the dishwasher replaced sometime this Spring; the next big purchase --  ughh!!

 

 

It's time to play with the Paper Players [PP329], and a fun and fabulous sketch challenge this week.  I have to say there are so many fun things you could do with this sketch, including different shapes (in place of the squares on point), and "collections" or groupings that coordinate or match.  I decided after some thought, that I just had to pull out my Hey Chick stamp set and go to town; because it was perfect for this ;-)

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.  This card base is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, at the standard 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4".  The base has been "inked" with the Hexagon Dynamic TIEF, by simply applying Smoky Slate ink on the raised side of the embossing folder, and then pressing it to the cardstock.  The lower 2" of the card front has a piece of designer paper from the Carried Away DSP (a SAB freebie); and I pulled the upper and lower halves of the card together with a piece of Calypso Coral 1/2" Seam Binding ribbon (very retired; but now I know why I hang onto all my favorite ribbon!).  

 

 

• Squares On Point.  I "reversed" today's sketch for a nice twist and some fun :-)  This Mother Hen is checking on her soon to hatch chicks and making sure they're staying "in line" as thing in the chicken house can get a little dicey ;-)  LOL  I pulled out my Copics to play a little with these guys.  I decided I definitely need to invest in somemore colors!!  But momma turned out okay.  My Stitched Shapes Framelits were perfect to create this easy and fun card.  Popped on dimensionals they're the perfect focal point for this card design.

 

 

You could easily watercolor this little guys; or use a blender pen.

I had forgotten how much I like the alcohol-based markers though.  I've kind of stayed away from the Copics for awhile.  Need somemore practice using them ;-)

Birthday Carousel for Mojo Monday~

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)

TGIF!!  It's an off-Friday for me; but I'm off to work a few hours of Over Time this morning; and then it's home to the Studio to finish getting ready for Valentine's class tomorrow!!  I'm really quite excited about this class.  It's one of my favorites to prepare for.  Prepping for class is always a flurry, along with trying to get the house cleaned up, and get a handle on the weekend chores.  So I expect to be pretty busy through the majority of the weekend !  Keeps me out of trouble, right??!!  LOL

 

It's time to play with Mojo Monday [MOJO481] this week.  What a fun sketch . . . and I decided our Cupcakes and Carousels Suite had all the perfect elements for this design :-)

 This is a wonderful "vintage" color scheme and one I've really fallen in love with.

 

Stampin' Up! simply does this so well  ~  everything coordinated and interlocked to perfection - colors, papers, inks, stamp set!  Even the embellishments!

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.   The card base for this card is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" - a standard side-fold A2 card.  The mat and background layers are Soft Suede and So Saffron respectively.  For the "circular" shape in the sketch, I decided to take this beautiful piece from the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack, and I literally fussy cut around the carousel image, and then laid it to the card front and trimmed the side and bottom to match.  So fun!

 

• Carousel Birthday. This beautiful little stamp set is so much fun!  The tents are stamped on Very Vanilla with Soft Suede (stamped off twice first), then cut out with the Stitched Shape Framelits, matted with the Layering Squares Framelits.  The sentiment is stamped in Bermuda Bay on Very Vanilla - the piece is cut 1-1/4" x 3-1/4", and matted with Soft Suede cardstock.  The trick to these two pieces that you don't really see in this picture is that I have "stacked" two dimensionals together to create extra dimension - namely, because the sentiment straddles the Bermuda Bay ribbon and the tassel from the Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit, I had to get the piece to sit higher to keep from having a bulge pushing on the cardstock.  Doubling up your dimensionals works well for this; just remember to do it on the overlapping square too so that everything matches.
  

 

Wondering how I got the "coloring" on the carousel horse?

Simple - the image was stamped on a piece of dsp from the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP Stack, and then fussy cut out - what an easy way to get an interesting look to your image.  It's simple to our "faux" paper piecing technique, but for the entire image, not just a part of it.

Mister Horse has been popped with dimensionals too!

A bow, and a few sequins from the embellishment kit, topped off with some small seed pearls -- and this pretty chic piece is ready to go!!!  :)

Sweet Packaging for Special Valentines ~

 

Hello Fellow Stampers ~

Well, this post is coming a little late today.  I had HOA duties last evening, and quite the day at work yesterday (well, really the whole week); and I was so tired last night after I got home from the board meeting.  So I just couldn't get this finished up to post up on time like I wanted.  I hope you all don't mind.  It can be difficult to keep up with everything around here!!  It has worked out for the best though, as I was able to put a little more thought into my little project overnight, and make some tweaks.  That happens!!  LOL  I'll do something, and then think about it for awhile, and dream about it overnight, and in the morning, everything can change.

 

Speaking of morning!!  I just had to share the beautiful sight I enjoyed on the way into work this morning.  We had an interesting "frost" overnight; not really snow, but this beautiful frost that overlaid absolutely everything - even the sides of the fences.  Everything just sparkled and danced in the morning sunlight.  It was absolutely breathtaking; like God picked up handfuls of Dazzling Diamonds and just sprinkled them everywhere.  It was gorgeous and I wish all of you could have been with me on the drive into work this morning :-)

 

 

This coming Saturday is my Valentine's themed class and I thought you might enjoy getting a sneak peak of a few of the fun goodies the group will be making.  I think one of the fun aspects of Valentine's is just leaving little treats or notes for friends and loved ones.  These little projects are quick and easy and work perfectly for just that purpose!  This little gift set is so much fun.  The little 3"x3"x3" Clear Mini Treat Boxes are one of my favorite little packaging solutions.  I love how you can see the cute treats inside, and how you can decorate these boxes in so many different ways.  The Mini Treat Bag is absolutely perfect for a simple notecard to slide inside with a special message.  It's the little details that make these easy projects so special.

 

 

You can see I experimented with two different embossing folders on these Mini Treat Bags.

 

This might be my favorite :)

 

 

And I pulled out my favorite release from last year's Spring Occasions Catalog to make my little notecards - First Sight - still available in the Annual Catalog, page 46 folks!

 

Featuring the So Detailed Thinlits cut from Vellum cardstock, and stamped with the So In Love stamp set.

 

And a little Blushing Bride to finish it all off :)

Sale-A-Bration Spotlight ~ Avant Garden!

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers -

I've decided that this week is a "flower focus" week -- LOL.  And I blame Paper Players for that one!  And I've decided that today I'm spotlighting one of our fabulous Sale-A-Bration products - a stamp that is sweet and lovely!  I often do a product focus throughout the course of Sale-A-Bration, so this will be our first one this year :-)

This sweet little 10-image photopolymer stamp set holds a lot of bang for the buck - or no buck, since it's FREE :-)  LOL

I think this set might be getting overlooked - it sits within the first several pages of the Sale-A-Bration brochure - just because it's small, and sort of getting over-shadowed this year by trend setters such as the "tee" set and the "tasty truck" adorable ice cream truck!

 

 I got a little carried away with the "splatter" image in this stamp step, but I was having so much fun!!  I would probably back off the Bermuda Bay, and have more Pool Party if I do this card again.

I pulled out my Stamp-a-ma-jig when I stamped the floral image; I wanted to line things up just so, and nothing helps you do that better than the stamp-a-ma-jig.

 

The best part of this card was the time spent watercoloring!

I was sitting watching my favorite show last night ~ NCIS (a fantastic episode by the way) ~ and just having the best time with my AquaPainter, ink pads, and some of the Watercoloring Pencils to coordinate the colors I had picked (Pumpkin Pie was used as the accent in the floral petals).

It is so relaxing to play with watercoloring; I highly recommend it.

 

I put my layers together a little bit differently on this card design.

The stamped Whisper White piece is adhered to the Bermuda Bay cardstock; that layer is wrapped with a piece of Whisper White ribbon from the Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack; and then the piece is actually popped with dimensionals on the Peekaboo Peach/Cardbase layer.  It's kind of fun to try something different; and I love the extra dimension to the front of the card.

Of course, I cannot get enough of our Stitched Shapes Framelits, and in this case, the Layering Ovals.  Those "stitches" add so much to every project you use them on!!

 

Turn to the Inside:  I replicated the front on the inside of this card, minus the flower stem.  I left the center of the card "blank" for writing or a stamped sentiment.

I think I may have just found my new favorite SAB set - just sayin' :-)

And this card is complete!

The majority of my time was spent playing with the watercoloring.

The rest of this design is pretty simple and easy!
