Good Morning Fellow Stampers :-)
Thursday here already! The weather has warmed up nicely the past several days, and Miss Sadie has been off playing with her BFF's (Best Furry Friends) each day while I've been at work. So it's been nice for me in the evenings as she comes home pretty pooped out and just snoozes, usually on the bed, while I do projects, or work in the Studio.
Last night baby girl dragged her blankie into the Studio with her and laid down right by my stool and work table. LOL I guess she didn't want to be in the other room snuggled on the bed; she wanted to be by mama! Tired baby!! She sure does play hard! :-) So I worked away while she snoozed!
Today we're going to play with the Global Design Project [GDP070]. I haven't done one of the GDP challenges in awhile, but I felt inspired this week, and wanted to jump in for some fun!! I have lots of fun stuff from the new Stampin' Up! 2017 Spring Occasions Catalog, that I haven't really played with yet, including some of these just gorgeous designer papers.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card really features the Falling In Love DSP with an accent of Very Vanilla and Tip Top Taupe to work with and blend with it. The card base is cut from Very Vanilla cardstock, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" - this card is a horizontal top-fold A2 card. Each layered is inset 1/8". The piece of DSP I chose from the Falling In Love collection I chose specifically for the look of horizontal layered lace that I thought accented today's sketch nicely. I then wrapped these layers with the following layers of lace/ribbon and my favorite die cut from the Love Notes Framelits:
- First I laid a strip of Very Vanilla 1/2" Lace Trim.
- Second I laid over the bottom edge of the lace trim a strip of Very Vanilla 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon.
- Next down I cut a strip of coordinating DSP with the heart edgelit from the Love Notes Framelits, and carefully glued it in place just overlapping the satin ribbon.
- Finally I overlapped the edge of the die cutout with a piece of the Very Vanilla/Gold Metallic 3/8" ribbon from the Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.
The effect over the lace DSP background really is vintage and lovely!
- Sunshine Wishes. This lovely "word" cutout from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits is perfect for a wedding card or even a Valentine card. Cut from Gold Foil, it seemed the perfect and simple "sentiment" for the front of this card.
The perfect finishing touch to this card design are the carefully set pearls in the center of each heart.
Now isn't that just elegant?!
- Turn to the Inside. Wanting to carry the "theme" to the inside of this card, I pulled out the new Delicate Details stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and lined up several of the lace edgings, inked in Tip Top Taupe, and stamped on the bottom edge of this inset piece. I did not add a sentiment just yet; this allows me to decide how I want to use the card in the future. Perfect for many occasions including an anniversary!!
What a fun card to design! I had a fabulous time playing with all these new products, and some "familiar" ones from our Annual Catalog. I'm enjoying mixing in our "standards" with the new products. Sometimes I think we forget about what's in the Annual and how it interacts so nicely with the new products that have just arrived. I hope you have felt inspired by today's vintage and elegant design! As much as I loved creating it and sharing it with you!!
