Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
TGIF!! So glad this is coming to an end. And for some reason, I just don't feel like I accomplished much; especially at work!! Too much to do, and somehow I'm not making headway! Tomorrow, we're heading off for the day to the National Western Stock Show, and I have to say I'm looking forward to a day away with my honey. The NWSS has always been one of my favorite venues. Hopefully I'll have some fun stories to share with you later :-)
It's my favorite time of the week; time to play with Mojo Monday [MOJO480]. What a fun sketch we have today; lots of shapes and lots of layers!! Fabulous!
I love this sweet color combination ~ and it was totally inspired by the beautiful designer paper from the Falling In Love DSP collection.
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4" - a standard A2 card with the fold to the left side. The background layering to this card is Soft Sky, Peekaboo Peach, and a beautiful piece of designer paper from the Falling In Love DSP collection. That stack is wrapped with a piece of Peekaboo Peach Ruched ribbon, set at an angle, then adhered to the card front. The focal point layering includes squares and circles encompassing a combination of the color scheme captured from the designer paper.
- Layering Squares, Layering Circles, Stitched Shapes & Even Some Basic Cutting. I am finding that creating layers for card sketches such of these are easier than ever now that we have all these fabulous layering framelit sets. The back square set is indeed cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits (back in stock now!), and the Layering Squares Framelits. I cut a piece of DSP from the Party Animal DSP. Bet you didn't think to "cross pollinate" your designer paper, did you ;-) LOL The stamped image is on a piece of watercolor paper that was cut with the Stampin' Trimmer to just fit the image; and matted with a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock. The sentiment sits on a 1-1/2" circle that was punched, and layered with a Layering Circle cutout of Soft Sky.
- Beautiful You. This is my first time breaking out this beautiful stamp set. It is quite large and comes in two cases. I didn't fully realize all the versatility to this stamp set until I actually had it in my hands and was looking at it. The sentiments in this set are absolutely incredible!! I have to say this is going to be a "top pick" for me as I make cards this Spring. I stamped my "dancing girl" in Archival Basic Black on Watercolor Paper; then pulled out my new Watercolor Pencils and played a little bit. I ended up using primarily the Daffodil Delight pencil from the sent, and my AquaPainter. I added some Peekaboo Peach ink with the AquaPainter to finish off her dress just the way I wanted. I used the AquaPainter and some Soft Sky and Sahara Sand inks to add my "background" coloring on the paper. I have to say, it's a lot of fun to just "color" and play!
I know we've been seeing a lot of this stamp set around the internet in the past month.
I hope you are not too tired of it just yet. And don't be scared to play with watercoloring.
You can't do it "wrong" - trust me!
We'll try another technique with these fun images very soon!!
I'd love to feel as carefree as this young lady seems to be in this picture! Seems life and responsibilities can really weigh us down!
I hope everyone has a fabulous Friday; and a wonderful weekend! Do find some time to steal away and craft!! I find it's important to my sanity!
