Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
How is everyone today? It seems we skipped Winter here on the Front Range of Colorado; and have jumped straight into a very dry early Spring. I may need to pull the hose out this weekend and do some watering as everything is so dry!
Today's Change-Up Thursday fun is all about watercoloring. And what better way to showcase our beautiful watercolor pencils than with the Sale-A-Bration Inside the Lines designer series paper collection. Hot and on trend with the adult coloring craze, this paper has 4 different designs all ready for your coloring fun. I picked one of the "bigger" designs for today's card; and used inspiration from a fellow Stampin' Pretty Pal, Kadie Labadie, in putting this design together.
I chose 4 colors out of our Watercolor Pencil collection - Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, and Old Olive. The technique I used for today's card is laying the color directly on the paper with the pencil, and then using my AquaPainter to move that color and spread it in the direction I wanted. I added "layers" of color inbetween letting the paper dry and again moved the color and spread it to achieve my watercolored artwork. This is an easy method and works well. One thing to remember on a paper like this is that it doesn't take well to water, so be sparing, have a light touch, move quickly. And definitely allow the paper to dry between applications.
I used another Sale-A-Bration product on this card -- stamped in Versamark and embossed with Copper embossing powder, I used the gorgeous "Thank You" from the So Very Much Sale-A-Bration stamp set. The font of this sentiment is gorgeous and perfect for a card like this.
The finishing touches on this card are pretty standard for me ~ some Clear Wink of Stella brushed on the flower petals and some of the leaves; a Calypso Coral Baker's Twine wrap and bow; and a few scattered pearls. It's a simple, elegant, and "wow" sort of design. Now some of you are probably wondering about the size of this card. It is indeed a square card - and after some contemplating I ended up going with a 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" finished size. It's not too big, and not to small. That means cutting the card base at 4-1/4" x 8-1/2", and scoring at 4-1/4". Each layer is cut in by 1/8".
