Well, we switched around the "day off" this week; sort of unintentionally.  So instead of not blogging on Thursday; we didn't blog on Wednesday -- LOL  It's been sort of a crazy week, and I'm, as usual, focused on issues at work.  Issues I'm hoping and praying may be resolving themselves very soon.

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

Well, here we are . . . off and running into the final week of June!  Whew!  Can you believe that one??  This month has just FLOWN right on by.  I am looking forward to a little down time through the upcoming 4th of July holiday break.  I'd love to curl up with a good book or two, and just try to decompress for a little bit!!

 

 

 

It's time to play with the Paper Players [PP350] challenge this week. We have a fun little sketch that I went round and round with different ideas about 15 times.  LOL  I like where I ended up though!  I hope you do too!

 

 

I made today's card for my honey who will be on business travel later this week.

I always like to tuck a note and a treat (usually banana bread) in his bag for his trip.

 

Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:

• Layerothology.   Today's card is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" - what I call a top fold vertical card.  The layering to this card is kind of "sneaky" and lots of fun!! I started with a mat piece of Daffodil Delight, cut 5-3/8" x 4-1/8".  Then I cut a piece of Whole Lot of Lovely DSP, approximately 2" x 5-1/4", as a strip to "peak" down the left side of the card.  Next I cut a piece of Silver Foil at about 2" x 5-1/4", and then a piece of Whisper White cut approximately 3-1/4" x 5-1/4".  I embossed the Whisper White with the new Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I have fallen in love with this new embossing folder -- fabulous!!!  Then working backwards, I attached the designer paper to the Daffodil Delight on the left; then I adhered the Silver Foil to the Whisper White panel so I could work out just exactly how much I wanted "peaking" down the left-hand side, and then lined that piece up on the Daffodil Delight mat and overlapping the designer paper.  Once complete, I adhered it to the front of the card base!  What do you think?? 

 

 

• Lemon Zest.  I'm finally pulling out this fabulous new stamp set and the coordinated punch, and having some fun!  I love it already!  I started by stamping the full "lemon" in Crushed Curry, and punching it out.  Then I stamped the "lemon slices" in Daffodil Delight, "rocking & rolling" one of them around the edges in Crushed Curry to have the peel match up to the background lemon.  I used a Smoky Slate stampin' write marker, and free-handed some "seeds" in the center of each slice, and then started layering.  The slices are cut out with one of the Layering Circles framelits, that I thought fit perfectly!  And the leaves are easy peasy as well with the new punch!  Using a combination of dimensionals and snail I layered up my little stack of lemons and leaves just so!!  LOL

 

 

• A Perfect Sentiment.   I love this sweet "punny" sentiment in the Lemon Zest stamp set.  I stamped it in Versamark and embossed it with Silver embossing powder to coordinate with the Silver Foil.  It was punched out easy peasy with the 1-1/2" circle punch.  Now I can decide on a cute little verse or note for the inside before I give the card to my honey.

 

 

• Turn to the Inside.  The inside of this card is as bright and cheerful as the outside!!  I made another lemon slice in Daffodil Delight and punched it out with the 1-3/4" punch just to keep it simple.  These leaves and slice are layered with SNAIL.  Now I need to find a fun little sentiment to slip in with my "note" - :-)

 

With lots of nice "white space" this card looks clean and bright; but the texture of the embossing folder and the "sneaky" layering gives lots of dimension to the card!  Did you see the few little pearls I snuck on in the middle of the lemon slices??  LOL

I think we should remember that a "masculine" card does not necessarily have to be brown, black, or "dreary"!  Change up and see how your guy reacts!!

Class With Wendy - Tarnished Metal Technique

 

Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~

Happy Hump Day!  It's time for a Class With Wendy video tutorial.  We've been holding off for a little while on videos after all my internet issues last month.  But we're back on board and giving it another try.  Things have improved some, although not quite where I'd like them to be.  Turns out that I can't get the internet speed I'd like to have in my community (unable to run the wiring and lines necessary), so we've had to make do with a replacement of the current line and a fix to the very badly deteriorated internet connection I had earlier this spring.  Things did go a little more smoothly earlier this week with the upload, so I was at least breathing a sigh of relief over that !!

 

 

I have to apologize though, profusely!!  I really wanted to showcase these cards and this technique BEFORE Father's Day this past weekend, and I just ran out of time to get everything done the way I wanted.  So we're coming in a little "late" and thus, I've changed the focus off of Father's Day, and more strictly to masculine card designs in general.  This technique is really fabulous for masculine cards, and I have fallen in love with it.  You MUST give it a try!!  I may even give it a try with some "contraband" colors of embossing powder and try to create some pretty feminine cards.  I'll let you know and share how that turns out!!   😉

 

These featured cards were created for a local class in early May using a number of products from the Urban Underground Suite in the Spring Occasions Catalog which are all now retired; nevertheless, as you can see from the card I create in today's video tutorial, we have lots of fabulous current products that you can use to create masculine cards.  Need any of these products?  Click on the product carousel at the end of today's post to go straight to that product in my Online Store.
