Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
Happy Monday! I celebrated my 50th birthday yesterday ~ and we did it with a big adventure to Seven Falls in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Believe it or not, in the 50 years I have lived in this State, I have never been to this venue. Don't ask me why. I queried Mom about it over the weekend as they were very good about taking us everywhere when we were kids, and most weekends were spent exploring the mountains and other areas of this State; but she didn't recall ever taking us kids to Seven Falls. And I don't remember ever being there.
There are 224 steps to the top of this array of waterfalls ~ and yes, we did climb all the way to the top (whew!); and then took the mile hike up to Helen Hunt Jackson's memorial gravesite too. By the time we got all the way back and all the way back down this staircase, I can honestly say I was exhausted - and now I know how out of shape I am -- LOL
Lunch afterwards at the 1858 Restaurant in the park there was wonderful and a wonderful birthday celebration.
The day was gorgeous (just the right temperature), and we had a wonderful time!
So now it's back to reality and time to play with the Paper Players [PP348] this week, and what a lovely fresh array of colors we have to play with in this week's challenge. Time to play with some more fun new products!!!
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. Today we're going to play with the wonderful Colorful Seasons Bundle, and play with a fresh CAS design, with even a little white-on-white. The card base for this card is cut from Pool Party, 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2". The background mat of Daffodil Delight is cut 4" x 5-1/4", and the Whisper White background is cut 3-7/8" x 5-1/8". From there, we start layering in some fun elements with stamping and die cutting .
- An Early Summer Season. I was in love with this bundle the first time I saw it; and working with it just makes it so much more so. Cute! Cute! Cute! I stamped the "spray" of Daffodil Delight flowers, and then (not well seen in the photos, unfortunately), I stamped them again to the left in Craft Whisper White, and embossed them with White Embossing Powder, for kind of a cool effect on the card. I wish you could see it better. I pulled out the Timeless Textures stamp set and stamped some "texture" in Daffodil Delight on the lower portion; unfortunately it gets fairly covered up with the ribbon and other elements. But that's okay - you can just see it peeking through!!
The adorable adirondack chair is cut from Lemon Lime Twist, and has a spray of leaves to match ~ a very fresh early Summer look I think.
Each layer ~ the ribbon, leaves, and the sentiment label ~ are layered each on top of the other, with SNAIL and dimensionals to give a nice varied texture and dimension to the card. The sentiment tucks nicely right at the bottom.
Finished off with just a couple Glitter Enamel Dots, the nice white background allows your eye to be drawn to the focal point and doesn't detract at all.
I didn't get a pic of the inside of the card, but it emulates the layering of the front, with just a few sprays of the Daffodil Delight flowers.
I like how the Pool Party card base gives the feel of sky in the background, and the Daffodil Delight brings to mind sunshine. And so, what a lovely day to be sitting in a meadow and enjoying the sunshine and beauty of Summer, wouldn't you say?? Do not wait to order this bundle ~~ It's just fabulous!
