Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
Happy Monday! Here we are kicking off the third week of June. Tomorrow will be the first official day of Summer, and we are going to be hot, hot, hot here this week!! Whew! Wilting weather!! LOL I'll be looking for the Summer monsoons like I do every year for some relief! Best to stay in the cool air conditioning and play in the Studio I think. I, however, am off to work ~ yuck!
It's time to play this week's Paper Players [PP349] challenge. This week's challenge is a CAS (clean and simple) challenge with a "feathered friends" theme - how fun!! Since I love birds, that's easy. And even better, I can pull one of my favorite new stamp sets, Fabulous Flamingo, and play a little.
The best part is we were spent the day at the Zoo yesterday, and I got the perfect picture of these fun birds . . . so we'll see how close my little bird comes out today compared to these!! LOL 😉
And since June is my birthday month, I think we'll have some special birthday card designs all month long!! 😉
Doggone Delightful Stampin' Design Tips:
- Layerothology. This card base is cut from Thick Whisper White cardstock, 8-1/2" x 5-1/2", scored at 4-1/4". The background mat color is Flirty Flamingo, cut 4-1/8" x 5-3/8". The top Whisper White background was carefully measured and cut at 3-7/8" x 5-1/4" to allow an 1/8" strip of Gold Foil to peak out underneath. The Gold Foil and Whisper White layering have a piece of Washi Tape wrapped around them with Gold Foil dots (a retired washi that I love) before being adhered to the mat layer and front of the card base. A nice easy CAS canvas to layer my Fabulous Flamingo on !! Yeah!
- Fabulous Flamingo. Unlike my flamingo a couple of week ago HERE, which was primarily watercolored, today's flamingo is all stamped. And the 3-step stamping of this set, makes it easy as can be! See my "how to" video on my business Facebook Page. Today's flamingo was stamped first in Powder Pink - the first layer was stamped off once first; then the second layer in full strength. You can see the gradiation in coloring and how nicely that works. The final detail stamp was stamped in Flirty Flamingo; and the legs in Crumb Cake. Some Clear Wink of Stella was added in strategic place on the feathers to add some sparkle and shimmer. Mister Flamingo struts through a stamped and watercolored pool of Tranquil Tide. He was cut with Layering Ovals Framelits; I offset a scallop oval in Gold Foil and then popped the piece with dimensionals. So easy really!
- Happy Birthday Gorgeous. I snuck the sentiment for today's card out of the Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set, stamped it in Flirty Flamingo on Whisper White, and then easily punched it with the Duet Banner Punch. It too is popped with dimensionals. A few Glitter Enamel Dots and this card was finished! It has just the right amount of "bling" to make it pop and still seem clean and simple to the viewer. I really love how it turned out!! How about you??
- Turn to the Inside. The inside layering of this card emulates the outside in a very simple manner; and allows for you to add an additional sentiment or just write a sweet note to the recipient. Right now I can just leave this card and it will be easy to grab and add whatever I want once I decide who the recipient is!!
A slightly different angle for you to view ~
Well, we're off and running into another busy week. The Product Shares are complete, and I want to give a great BIG Thank You shout out to my assistant this year, Trish McDaniel!! She cut ribbon and wrapped ribbon cards like a crazy woman, and I simply could not have pulled this off in such a timely manner without her. If you are awaiting a Product Share, they are leaving in the mail as we speak! So keep your eyes peeled on your nearest mailbox -- LOL
I'll be working this week on a number of tasks, including getting the remains of my Annual Studio Clean Out Sale prepped and posted up for all of you to "shop shop shop" ~ so keep your eyes peeled for that announcement that the sale has gone live as well. All of it takes work and time, and time is something I seem to be in short supply of more than I would like!
Have a fabulous Monday everyone!
Until Next Time . . .
