Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
As we continue to roll out our new blog daily themes and weekly sequencing for this coming Fall season, I wanted first to affirm for everyone today that Wednesdays will continue to be either an "Ask Wendy Wednesday" technique or tip; or a "Class With Wendy" project tutorial video. It will depend on the week and how things are here at DDS Studios as to which one it is. But I hope you can depend on Wednesdays being a fun day of learning and I look forward to bringing you tons of fun inspiration this coming season. With that in mind, I am looking for new content for my Ask Wendy Wednesdays series -- so if you have a question that's been plaguing you, or you're just curious how to do something or how something works, or some technique you'd like to learn, please just drop me an email and put your question in the proverbial "Question Box." I promise to try to get to everyone's questions or requests on a first come, first serve basis, and as quickly as I can!
Today I want to feature a card my group did this past weekend at our Christmas In July class, and give you a little "technique tip" on how to use a product for this card that may not even have occurred to you. Now this card design was something I saw on Pinterest; I cannot remember where or who did this card, but I fell in love with it and just had to put it together. It is one of my favorites from this past week!
This card features some of my most favorite products that carried forward from last year's holiday catalog - Christmas Pines stamp set, Star of Light stamp set, Santa's Sleigh Thinlits!
Don't you just love it?!
This is a white card base, cut 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2" - top fold vertical card.
The mat is Basic Black, 5-1/4" x 4". I used the star images from the Christmas Pines stamp set, stamped in Versamark and embossed with Gold embossing powder - don't you love how that looks against the black?
Now what you won't be expecting is that the gold foil striped piece down the left-hand side is actually from our Striped Treat Bags - were you ready for that one?? LOL
I've used some of my hoarded Brushed Gold cardstock (very retired), on this card, cut with the Stitched Shapes framelits. -- The Oval is popped with dimensionals.
And popped over the top of the Oval -- a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Reindeer -- whoo hooo!! With a lovely Natural Trim (in gold) bow.
The sweet sentiment is from Star of Light stamped in Versamark and embossed with Gold embossing powder. The banner tails are "fussy cut" and layered.
The banner was "curved" with a bone folder and popped with dimensionals, finished off with pearls!
Now does that get any more Christmas?? 😉
Turn to the Inside.
I used some retired washi tape down the side of the inside of this card to emulate the front of the card; and the same versamark / emboss technique with the star image and sentiment.
This fabulous sentiment is also from the Christmas Pines stamp set.
Now let's talk about those fabulous new Striped Treat Bags in our new Annual Catalog - have you checked these out yet??
They are so rich and luscious, and perfect for gift-giving.
But what about cutting it apart and using it like "designer paper" on a card??
Cut on the folded line down the side, and then across the bottom.
Then cut the front and back apart on the opposite side fold.
If you cut right on the folded line, it will be clean and look pretty straight!
Now trim off from the top and the bottom, keeping things even and getting just the look you want to match your chosen card design.
My card section length is 5-1/8". And then I cut 2" strips.
As you can see, I get 2 strips, and a leftover piece I can use for something else, from one side of the bag.
Which means you can get at least 4 cards out of a bag.
Fabulous, right??!! 😉
So there you go!! A brief tutorial, and a technique tip all rolled into one Ask Wendy Wednesday / Class With Wendy Wednesday post. I hope you have enjoyed today's posting. I look forward to hearing from you!! Hope you have a wonderful Hump Day!! And don't forget to be earning those Bonus Days coupons -- only a few days left!!
Until Next Time . . .
