Good Morning Fellow Stampers ~
Happy Monday! We're off and running to start the final full week of July!! And today I begin the slow "make-over" we doing here at DDS Studios and to our weekly blog line-up. I hope you will like the plan we're unfolding for each day of the week here on the blog.
Today I am introducing you to "Mix-It Up Mondays" . . . instead of a card challenge, we are going to play with tags, bags, boxes, and more -- we'll explore making paper craft in what I hope will be a fun new way. Because really, there is so much more to paper crafting with stamps, inks, and paper, then just a card, right??!! 😉
We're also starting our second week of Christmas In July today, and I hope you will enjoy this fun project I have for you!! I am thrilled to showcase our Window Box Thinlits in a Christmas theme . . . and what could be better than some fun and festive decor for the upcoming season; namely, a tealight box.
I love candles and I have come to enjoy the "faux" tealites (battery operated) that have hit the market in recent years. These tealites have come a long way since they first were introduced; in fact, many now have a "flickering" effect and a warm glow.
By using the "cutout" thinlit plates in the Window Box Thinlit die set, you can create the perfect "pretty" openings for your tealite to flicker through. Can't you see a fun collection of these sitting on a table or mantle?
I'm mixing up my holiday colors in this fun project as well.
This box is cut from Tranquil Tide cardstock - be sure to use your 12" x 12", cut to 6" x 12" when cutting this box out.
And don't forget that you have to cut two of the shapes to make a complete box.
I used this sweet heart-style cut-out for the sides of the box. Don't you just love this? It reminds me of a very country Christmas.
I cut a separate Very Vanilla piece and trimmed out just the "lid" to layer over the top lid of my box. I then had some fun with the new Nature Sings stamp set. Have you seen this new set in the Annual Catalog? I really love this stamp set.
The sentiment has been stamped several times in Versamark and the embossed with Gold embossing powder
The pine branch image from the set was stamped in Tranquil Tide, and then "berries" added using the Glitter Enamel Dots in various sizes and shading.
I added the hearts which were left from the side cutouts using just a bit of glue for each.
The front of the box has an In Color Bitty Bow in Berry Burst to match the "berries" on the top of the box.
"Turning to the Inside" you can see how nicely the little tealite fits inside the box. You can even "hold" it in place with a couple of glue dots if you like so that it doesn't slide around.
Here's a glimpse of the "flame" through the cutouts on the side!!
I hope you have enjoyed Mix-It Up Monday. If you didn't snatch up this set of dies when they were introduced this Spring in the Spring Occasions catalog, don't wait!! You will definitely want this cute little box for lots of uses this holiday season, I can assure you!! Get a set and the beautiful stamp set in my Online Store today!! Until Next Time . . .
