Hello Fellow Stampers -
Coming to you with a late Monday post today. I had to take some to time to ponder what I want to do with the final two weeks of July in terms of projects and themes. I was somewhat disappointed with the Paper Players challenge this week; and unfortunately that is the second time that has happened in recent weeks. Card challenges are not always the "end all, be all" and sometimes it is good to break out and do our own thing. So I have decided to do something I've always pondered doing, and that's have a Christmas In July series. So here we go . . . we're going to kick of the soon to be here holiday season, and think "cool" thoughts while it's 98 degrees outside -- LOL 😋 Get ready! For the next several weeks we're going to showcase all sorts of fun ideas for Christmas to get you inspired to start your holiday planning. And next month, you will have a very special opportunity to pre-order a very special bundle; and by the end of August, you all will have a beautiful new Holiday Occasions catalog in your hands too!!
There is nothing more elegant than a black and gold combination (and we will use a vanilla compliment to pull it all together). I'm excited about doing something really different today with a set that you may not have even thought about to use for a Christmas card design.
I have to admit that this is a Mary Fish inspired card design.
It was while looking at her card this morning that I realized that there was the perfect Christmas card just waiting to happen.
With the right sentiments and the right color coordination, this could look like a beautiful ornament.
And wah lah . . . I was right !!
I contemplated starting this card with a Basic Black cardbase, and then changed my mind.
This card base is cut from the new Thick Very Vanilla cardstock - 4-1/4" x 11", scored at 5-1/2".
I matted the Basic Black with Gold Foil, created a triple wrap with 1/8" Gold Metallic ribbon, and adhered the simple layers to the card front.
Layering with Eastern Medallion Thinlits!!
So many options ~ did you even think about this set of dies for a Christmas card?
Can you see these die cuts put together to make a beautiful ornament?
In the gold and black with ivory touches, I think this layering turned out just beautiful on the front of this card.
With just the right amount off dimensionals to pop layers off the card and a touch of Gold Metallic shapes to add a little glimmer and shimmer.
And snuck in there to help pop and make it all work - the Eastern Gold Vinyl Stickers make it so easy!!
This sentiment is from the Nature Sings stamp set - and fits perfectly in a 1-1/4" circle.
Turn to the Inside!
I used this wonderful sentiment from the Holly Berry Happiness stamp set for the inside of the card;
and then added gold accents using the Eastern Beauty stamp set and my Encore! Gold Metallic ink pad (very retired by the way!!)
A little bit of gold dotted washi tape from my stash drawer works well accenting the inside layer.
The simplicity of this card and yet the delicate elegance just makes it pop! It i so pretty in person and would be a stunning card to send to your recipients this upcoming Christmas season. If you passed up the Eastern Palace bundle, I would give it another look see. Even if you added just the Eastern Medallion Thinlits to your craft collection, you would have an extremely versatile and beautiful set of dies to come back to again and again! Give them another look! And as always, if you have any questions regarding my designs or regarding Stampin' Up!, I'm only an email away!
Until Next Time . . .
